Firefly/Serenity question

Post by Lord Revan »

I was just watching Serenity(movie) on DvD and started thinking has it ever been explained what's that rotating thing at the rear of Serenity (the ship that is)?

Yeah, Spankster is right. It's the stardrive or whatever the call it. It's a part of the engine.

ok thanks, it's just been a while since I've seen the series and it's never mention exactly what it is in the movie

Yeah, the engine room is at the very end of that section, according to an internal layout made for the show.

It is used in interplanetary travel only it seems. Activating it while in the atmosphere has bad effect as seen in the pilot episode when it created a flaming cloud size of a small nuke explosion. In the atmosphere Serenity normally uses anti grav / wing mounted engines.
I have to tell you something everything I wrote above is a lie.
