Well, Andromeda was at least watchable during the first 1.5 seasons...before Sorbo got all Herc and axed the show creator.
Btw - why isn't this in pure sci-fi?

A decision must be made in the life of every nation at the very moment when the grasp of the enemy is at its throat. Then, it seems that the only way to survive is to use the means of the enemy, to rest survival upon what is expedient, to look the other way. Well, the answer to that is 'survival as what'? A country isn't a rock. It's not an extension of one's self. It's what it stands for. It's what it stands for when standing for something is the most difficult! - Chief Judge Haywood

That's what jumped at me as well. I don't recall them ever being presented like some sort of natural laws like that SA story makes them out to be, but as a series of programming principles that people creating robots in the Asimov-verse used.Crazedwraith wrote:That list is rather bullshity at times. Yes, we don't build robots with the 3 laws. How does that make Asimov awful sci-fi?
"Death before dishonour" they say, but how much dishonour are we talking about exactly? I mean, I can handle a lot. I could fellate a smurf if the alternative was death.

I like #4.
"Orwell so accurately read the nature of governments and so bleakly assessed the hearts of men, in part thanks to his experiences in Spain, that he created a book that would forever be referenced by morons. His name became synonymous with anything bad, or even seemingly bad, related to government. Listen to CNN or Fox News or read the Internet and you'll see "Orwellian" used to describe almost anything."

I don't know if it's because I'm sleep deprived, but this cracked me up.
They believed that President Reagan had just declared star wars on them and he was prepared to muster all of America's X-wings to wage war against their bullets. With that kind of firepower they knew they didn't have a chance.

And the whole point of every Robots book Asimov wrote was to explore the shortcomings of the 3 Laws. All of the books make a clear damn point that even with an Act of Plot which enforces the 3 Laws, they arent garrientied to work as intended.Karza wrote:That's what jumped at me as well. I thought about it and I think it means that the guys at SA don't worship Babylon 5 like a bunch of other people on the internet do.fgalkin wrote:

Also did anyone notice Toru Furuya (aka Amuro Ray) in the Japanese Robocop 3 trailer?

The choice for #1 strikes me as more of a joke answer, considering how little it it actually has to do with sci-fi, and that their choice for #2 is the real top Most Awful Moment.
Because honestly, it is.

The article was sometimes amusing, but overall not very good. The support they mustered for hating Babylon 5 was "we hate the fans." Then, they compared it to Andromeda, but their spot on Andromeda wasn't written well enough to make any sense (or be funny).
And bashing Asimov and Orwell because idiots misunderstand them is fucking retarded. They even tried to make up for bashing Asimov by giving him a second entry amounting to "we're sorry he's dead, but we still hate the Three Laws of Robotics, so I guess we just devoted two of our entries to how much we hate the Three Laws of Robotics."
And the stuff on the SDI really didn't even belong on the list.

This is the guy they want to use to win over "young people?" Are they completely daft? I'd rather vote for a pile of shit than a Jesus freak social regressive.
Here's hoping that his political career goes down in flames and, hopefully, a hilarious gay sex scandal. -Tanasinn

My blog, please check out and comment! http://decepticylon.blogspot.comIt's a funny list and not at all serious nor do I think its meant to be taken as a serious "worst of" list. While I enjoyed Babylon 5 the series, the tv movies were awful and Crusade was UGH, Legend of the Rangers an attrocity and Lost Tales was deadly dull. So I'd say any magic left in B5 is over with and done and the fans can definitely make matters worse. I can sympathize with someone who grows to hate a series because of rabid fans. My dislike for Serenity grows every time I have to listen to some dumbass browncoat even attempt to place the show on the same level as classics like Wars and Trek. Get over it, stupid, Serenity has no cultural impact remotely approaching the classics. So yes, you can hate a series based on rabid fandom.
The bashing of Andromeda is well deserved. Even though the 1st season is perhaps the best 1st season of any sci fi show in recent memory (save for nBSG) the other 3.5 seasons were absolutely unwatchable drek.
