Most Messed-up World

Post by SAMAS »

What world, from Sci-Fi, Anime, or whatever, is really messed up when you stop to think about it?

My vote would have to go for Pokemon.

Think about it:

"Son, you're ten years old today. Here's some money and a small animal. Go out in the world, and don't come back until that thing is powerful enough to destroy the house!"

Remeber that all animals are Pokemon...so when they are eating hot dogs and hamburgers...those are Pokemon.

And I say Warhammer 40K...for right now...until something else pops into my head.

Rifts Earth...where a mutant dog wearing body armor can be hit by a tank gun and take no damage.

Hmm... are you referring to sci-fi I have seen/watched/read or sci-fi I've heard about?

The most fucked-up sci-fi/fantasy society I've heard about is Gor from the Gor novels. It seems like the author, John Norman, envisioned the most wretched, screwed-up society possible, and then presented it as an utopia.

Fortunately, I've never had the misfortune of reading any of Norman's novels, and I'll keep myself a good mile away from them.

The Red Dwarf universe. The last human in the universe billions of light years from home and your only companions are an evolved kat, a dead mans hologram, a bog bot, and a senile computer.

Actually, the pere planning to use Professor Monterary at first, then realized that there was really no good reason why the Voyager crew would bring that guy along.
I am capable of rearranging the fundamental building blocks of the universe in under six seconds. I shelve physics texts under "Fiction" in my personal library! I am grasping the reigns of the universe's carriage, and every morning get up and shout "Giddy up, boy!" You may never grasp the complexities of what I do, but at least have the courtesy to feign something other than slack-jawed oblivion in my presence. I, sir, am a wizard, and I break more natural laws before breakfast than of which you are even aware!

That's true, actually. Some Pokemon, like Farfetch'd, are getting rare because they also happen to be delicious.

Ash has about 20 Tauros. If Pokemon Training fails to pan out for some reason, he can always open a Steakhouse.

Anyone remember the movie "Soldier"?

I thought it was fucked up to just take an inhabited world and turn it into a junkyard.

Uh, I'm pretty sure that it wasn't inhabited until after it had been used as a junkyard. And then, nobody really knew about the people there.

No planet, will ever be weirder, than the earth we live in

But heres a few close ones:

The robotic Planet in Galaxy Express 999 where they manufactured robotic bodies.

Zonama Sekot (SW EU) seems rather fudged up

The post apocalyptic far future worlds of bastard! and Vampire Hunter D.

if theres anything else I can think of maybe i'll remember them later

The 40K universe is pretty bleak. The world of Wastland (the computer game) is pretty jacked. But at least my best hand-to-hand guy could kill a tank with an axe by the end of the game. 8)

I dunno, I've seen a few 'chick-flicks' that make me glad I don't live in a world where there is no truth and happiness is a lie.

Or at least that I live in a world where I can stay the fuck away from chick-flicks and their denizens.
