NBSG Razor [SPOILERS]

NBSG Razor [SPOILERS]
I know it's not on TV yet (nor in the theatres for screening) but it's been leaked. No, I'm not telling you where to find it.
Gina appears to have been inserted into the Colonies at least "months" before the attack - and probably even longer, considering she seemed to be a lead for the Pegasus' refit program. Apparently the upgrade also proposed further increasing the automation of the ship, to boot, but then the attack came and the network was never refit.
Cain's objective appeared to be a guerrilla war against the Cylon occupying forces. What she really sought to accomplish, I'm not sure, because she'd eventually run out of fuel, ammunition, spare parts, etc.
Also, it looks like Starbuck's destiny might not be a good one.
EDIT: More musing, I wonder if Gina really cared for Cain (much as Caprica came to care for Baltar) ... also, not even the Twelve Colonies are safe from corporate buzzwords

Well, that's interesting. I knew that the movie would be important as a set up for the third season, but I wasn't expecting anything on that. Can't wait.phongn wrote:Also, it looks like Starbuck's destiny might not be a good one.
If The Infinity Program were not a forum, it would be a pie-in-the-sky project.

Do we see any other types of ships at the Fleet Yards?

I think that's because in a straight fight without the infiltration, the Battlestar fleet would have likely shredded the Cylon's fleet.ray245 wrote:Sign thanks to the virus...we will never see a FLEET of battlestar fighting a fleet of basestars.
In fact, the Cylon's own projections, I recall, were that they were to take significantly more severe losses taking the Colonies, even with things going their way.

Yes. In addition to the usual Battlestars, it looks like there's some sort of fleet tender or freighter. The yard is pretty big, too.Vympel wrote:Do we see any other types of ships at the Fleet Yards?
Yes.Gaidin wrote:More importantly, do we get to add to the number of battlestars we get to see blown to little pieces?
That said, the Cylons would still have the advantage of total surprise - they probably could've inflicted severe losses on any part of the Colonial Fleet by jumping in and nuking before they knew what hit them.Gil Hamilton wrote:In fact, the Cylon's own projections, I recall, were that they were to take significantly more severe losses taking the Colonies, even with things going their way.
Their relationship also seemed to be rather nicely handled (pre-discovery of Cylon-ness) and not "in your face OMG! Lesbians!"TheDarkling wrote:Well now we know why the Admiral was so annoyed with Gina although it seemed a mite cliché with her being the tough as nails woman and all.

The fleet yard showed a Galactica-type Battlestar... which didn't seem much smaller (if any) than Pegasus.

I loved it, I thought it was an extremely well-written story with only a few gripes, namely, how the commando squad boarded the Cylon ship at the end. I guess they have some powerful suit thrusters to counter the inertia of the Raptor.
However, for some reason, seeing the old-school Centurions in action, especially hearing "By Your Command" made me smile, especially with their crazy machinegun pistols.

Yay, Showboat. My favorite female Pegasus pilot.
It doesn't make much sense that the old-style Raiders that attacked Pegasus would come up as "unknown configuration". They should be in the records.

Another part about that which bugged me was that the old-school Raiders were able to overtake Vipers which were 20-years ahead of them, tech-wise.Vympel wrote:

"By your command". Awesome. Anyone notice the A-Team quote?

Yeah, after the A-Team-esque rediculousness of that evac of the Raptor, it was perfect. Must be some pretty powerful thrusters in those suits to compensate the inertia they had to fight againstVympel wrote:"By your command". Awesome. Anyone notice the A-Team quote?

Did I miss something - why didn't Pegasus just launch Vipers and destroy all the Raiders?

Cain mk. 2 wanted to do exactly just that, but Lee just ordered the jump out because it was "just" a search and rescue mission.Vympel wrote:Did I miss something - why didn't Pegasus just launch Vipers and destroy all the Raiders?

The guy who played the hybrid is the same guy who did the voice of the Bentusi in Homeworld. Heh, that's awesome.
The old-school Cylons and raiders were good to see. Especially the "By your command!" bit.

[/size][/i]Yeah, but I mean, when the Raiders returned to an air defense posture around the Hybrid ship, he should've just ordered Vipers launched and cleared them, extracted the team, and then fired a ship to ship nuke. There weren't that many Raiders in the first place, and Viper Mk VIIs > 50-year old RaiderNeoGoomba wrote: Cain mk. 2 wanted to do exactly just that, but Lee just ordered the jump out because it was "just" a search and rescue mission.

Well, Apollo was never portrayed as a very aggressive combat officer. He's a "by the book" guy...actually, he reminds me a LOT of Cyclops from X-Men. Issues with his father, able-yet-restrained leadership style, somewhat of a bore, and awful woman problems. Though, at least I have HOPE for Lee's character growth, and want to see him become more than what he is.

One thing that bugged me was at the end, when the Hybrid warns Shaw about how the humans shouldn't follow Starbuck. As soon as she tries to pass the warning onto the Pegasus, he restores the jamming again so she can't. What?

That was a pretty decent showing, although it felt as though the whole point of the story was to show that Starbuck was bad juju and that the old Cylons were back.
