I confess I was very unimpressed with the pilot of this series, but it's grown on me a bit since then.
fun/fantasy movies existed before the overrated Star Wars came out. What made it seem 'less dark' was the sheer goofy aspect of it: two robots modeled on Laurel & Hardy, and a smartass outlaw with bigfoot co-pilot and their hotrod pizza-shaped ship, and they were sucked aboard a giant Disco Ball. -adw1
Someone asked me yesterday if Dracula met Saruman and there was a fight, who would win. I just looked at this man. What an idiotic thing to say. I mean really, it was half-witted. - Christopher Lee

It's pure kiddie adventure with a lot of the kid-action/adventure cliches, but you've got Elisabeth Sladen. And it's proven a meatier and less annoying series than Torchwood.

Oil an emergency?! It's about time, Brigadier, that the leaders of this planet of yours realised that to remain dependent upon a mineral slime simply doesn't make sense.

Yeah. I wonder what's going to become of Dr. Who with all the "kiddie" stuff diverted to Sarah Jane and all the "edgy" crap shunted (and tweaked to a ridiculous degree) to Torchwood.

Looks like a single scout vehicle survived the destruction of the Sontaran ship in DW...
Check out TREKWARS (not involving furries!)

EVIL BRIT CONSPIRACY: Son of York; bringing glorious summer to the winter of your discontent.

KNIGHTS ASTRUM CLADES: I am a holy knight! Or something rhyming with knight, anyway...
