Just a random question.

Why hasn't Major Davis been promoted in all his years in Stargate?

Wouldn't his role merit and qualify promotion to the colonel ranks?

Also in real like isn't staying a Major for something like 10 years result in you being asked to leave?

He's the Pentagon liason to the SGC. To me, it seems like his rank is appropriate to his duties.

In 'Avalon' there was a throwaway line which suggested he had been promoted to Lt Colonel, but then in Continuum when they had him walk past the camera for a cameo, he was still a Major. I'm inclined to think the latest was a mistake; that they forgot about the former, but by strict canon, he has been a major for at least 9 years or so.
