I don't know how I stumbled on this thread! I was just looking for pictures of batleths. Instead I find a thread so disgusting, so....Ahh, I can't bear to mention any more
The omnipotent and LOTR loving Q, in his infinite wisdom , has decided to play a trick on some of the characters from the Star Trek series.
He is sending some of them to Middle-Earth, to play the different parts of the Fellowship, on their quest to destroy the One Ring.
Which Trek characters does he cast in these roles?
Gandalf
Aragorn
Frodo
Sam
Legolas
Gimli
Boromir
Merry
Pippin
Gandalf - Garak, hardest one to pick, no one really fits Gandalf all that well in the ST universe, maybe Odo if he were a bit older.
Aragorn - Sisko
Frodo - Quark, odd but considering hobbits' surprising reseilence, their considerable inner strength of will and bravery, and their way of always doing what is least expected of them, Ferengis, and Quark in particular fits best of all trek characters as Frodo.
Its not that bad, hey and it us kill of Weasly if we play our cards right!

You're right NoK. This is blasphemous. The LotR characters are clearly better than the ST characters. Can you see Captain Picard playing Gandalf? [shoots imposter]

Could you imagine Wil Wheaton playing anything but a rock or a small shrub perhaps? But Quark as Frodo? Quark exhibits none of the qualities of a hero. He'd make a great Wormtonge!
I thought it would have been cool if Stewert played King Thengol in The Two Towers, but alas no. The only Trek actor I like. Him and LeVar Buton. Gotta love readin rainbow.

And what about Janeway as Gandalf?

I don't think it would have been that cool, as there was no such character in the book. Closest I can think of is Thingol, Legolas' father, who is briefly referred to.

I think spongyblue may be referring to Theoden, King of Rohan, who appears in a good sized chunk of book. Thengel was his father, but he is never seen "in-stage". The father of Legolas is King Thranduil of Mirkwood, who is seen only in the Hobbit, as far as I recall. Thingol is a big character of the Silmarillion, but he never makes it to the LotR.

Note: I took this information from the Encyclopedia of Arda http://www.glyphweb.com/arda/default.htm
because I didn't feel like flipping though the books, so this is second-hand, thogh the Encyclopedia is a good source.

I know that, oh fiery-blooded Champion of the Courts. I just... well... there comes a point when one has to remark on the gratituous misspellings apparently running rampant over the Internet. I know some, like Bean, have legitimate reasons for this. But the majority of Americans here really should know better.
Note that I wasn't irritated solely because of grammatical errors. It's when a sentence says something totally different and/or incomprehensible that I get riled.

Sorry. I thought, what with all the similar names in Tolkien you might have done a mistake.
As for the rant: I understand. I have just enaugh problem reading english without spelling mistakes as it is...

Those trekkies will stop at NOTHING to despoil all that I cherish. I would however like to see these "charcters" fight against Sauron. To see Weasly get crushed by his mace and flung hundreds of meters. No character shield can stop Sauron.

Looking through what I just wrote, I see that you were right. I mistook Thranduil for Thingol... gah. Particularly stupid of me to do it while picking nits.

Well, I understand English well enough, but I don't see why people have to make it harder. Though the worst part is when people like Guardian2000 and Gothmog use big words to try and make their sentences inpenetrable. Such behavior irritates me.
