Rancor Monster (ROTJ) vs Hunter with 700 Nitro Express

Could a hunter, shoot and kill a Rancor from the movie Return of the Jedi, for you guys that don't know a lot about guns, its basically an elephant gun,

down towards the bottom in the 3rd last paragraph it gives the information on the rifle, basically
8000 ft lbs at the muzzle, and 6000+ at 100 meters, 1000 grain bullet,

so can you take down a Rancor with it?

Depends on where you hit it.

If you get the Rancor in the big toe ( claw?) it won't do a whole lot.

If you were able to shot it directly in the eye or someother sensitive spot, you could possibly take it down with a .22 .

Did Luke have his lightsaber available in the Rancor scene? I can't see how anything alive could withstand the penetrating power of a lightsaber.

Also, didn't the Gammorean guard have some sort of blaster? www.starwars.com mentions that rancor hide can resist blaster fire. Yet Star Wars blasters seem to be well into the kilowatt range, with Han Solo's (rather exceptional) blaster at least in the high kilowatt range. In fact, in one of those Ewok movies that I glimpsed on TV, a Tatooine (?) farmboy shattered a large boulder with a continuous beam from his blaster pistol for about 10 seconds (probably less).

Furthermore, what is the kinetic energy (in joules) of a bullet from this elephant gun? How does it compare with other rifles and firearms?
