i was reading the post on what thy censord but i was wondering what you woild censor and you have to censor something

for me it yould be sex and nude seens

Well, sex and nudity, usually there isn't TOO much in it to make censoring annoying, but sensoring blood and violence is ridiculous.

Besides, if they censor nudity and sexual themes like they do in Dragon Ball on Toonami, we have little to worry about.

In Japan it's against the law to show sexual organs, for both live action and animation. So it's either blurred or covered.

are the rules different for manga or something? because I have seen quite a bit of it that isnt censored at all -- anime too, but it might have predated the censorship rules there (how long have they been in effect?). in addition I have also seen other stuff that is so slightly censored (black marks covering a very small area of various organs, but leaving the whole otherwise intact)

When hentai titles (both anime and manga) are brought over, the censoring media is often removed (or I think for some very rare cases with manga redrawn).

The censorship laws have been in effect for (I think) at least 20 years.

As for the smaller stuff that barely covers up anything: I've seen those mostly in doujinshi (unofficial fan manga), and because of their nature, they cheat a little.

My understanding of Japanese censorship (which may well be wrong, this is all second-hand-recalled-from-a-few-years-ago stuff) is that it is a relic from the American rebuilding effort in Japan after WWII when there were a lot of laws put into place to promote a more American style of morality&whatnot in Japan.

I believe that the laws were repealed or weakend a few years ago and you can buy uncensored porn in Japan, but that Doujin makers have continued using them because of their edgier (less legal) status.

In the intro to Professor Pain, they said that pubic hair is illegal, and the implication I got was that nudity is OK as long as it's bald...
