Teaser is on the page. From what I can tell, it's an odd mixture of live action and computer animation.Top Stories

Totally Badass Trailer for Battlestar Galactica’s Cylon War Prequel, Blood and Chrome
Check out the amazing trailer for the new Battlestar Galactica prequel, Blood and Chrome. Following a young William Adama fighting in the first Cylon War. Last we heard, this pilot was going to be demoted to a webseries, instead of being aired as a TV movie. But this trailer is too amazing to be relegated to the internet — put this pilot on TV now, Syfy!
According to our old reports the plot follows young William Adama as he's ordered to escort a young woman, who turns out to know some vitally important Cylon secrets. So far, this show looks slick as hell. So Say We All!

A teaser with nothing but pew pew isn't enticing. Let's hope there's good character work and that it stands next to nBSG quite well in that regard.
So do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.

I like that cover.
As for it being nothing but pewpews, yeah well it IS a teaser.

Come on, that's fucking BSG. Even if the end was something of a letdown, that's the only seriously awesome semi-hard sci-fi show for ages. More of BSG can't be bad unless it's Caprica

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome teaser
I consider myself teased. I'll watch it anyway, if only for the battles. Especially the Battlestars letting rip. That's always fun.
Baltar: "I don't want to miss a moment of the last Battlestar's destruction!"
Centurion: "Sir, I really think you should look at the other Battlestar."
Baltar: "What are you babbling about other...it's impossible!"
Centurion: "No. It is a Battlestar."
Corrax Entry 7:17: So you walk eternally through the shadow realms, standing against evil where all others falter. May your thirst for retribution never quench, may the blood on your sword never dry, and may we never need you again.

What's odd about it? Just looks very SFX-heavy.
The ships seem right, but...
1. Ice planet? Can't help but wonder if they are retconning the events of Razor with the new actor and look.
2. The Cylons all look fucked up and weird. Hope there are classic Centurions too. Even Caprica got that one right.
3. What's with the giant alien critters? Are they just having fun with the show now that Olmos is out of the picture? I guess it does hearken back to the original series but it's a huge shift for the neoBSG-verse.

The only thing I know about this show so far is that it will feature lots of rappelling and Adama getting out of a Viper. That's all that the trailer had... I don't get it. This is supposed to pique my interest?

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome teaser
Just re-posting this from the original thread I made.
I'm still on the fence about the actor they've cast for Adama. He's still too much of an unknown quantity for me at the moment. And he does look unnervingly similar to Wesley Crusher in certain shots.
Is it just me or did the CGI in the main BSG series gradually decline in quality? At first, back when Zoic was onboard the visual effects seemed to be more realistic and grounded (in the season one to two period). But then when they switched to in-house effects the spacecraft and other elements began to become more plastic and artificial in appearance. It's particular noticeable in the season four spacebattles. I'm only bringing this up because the CGI doesn't appear to be drastically improved from what came before. But I do love a good spacebattle and it looks like it'll be filling that quotient in spades.
The greenscreen sets are pretty jarring as well (a little too reminiscent of Amanda Tapping's Sanctuary in appearance). Apparently one of the reasons why the series has been in development hell for so long was because they had struggled to achieve the right look for those aforementioned virtual settings.
But I'm definitely interested in it now, though I do have my reservations (the spectre of that fucking ending still lingers in my mind). If it does live up to the potential it'll fill the space opera void quite nicely.
I think there's interest in it because it's a space opera series in a time when there are virtually none on the horizon rather than anyone caring about another a BSG series in of itself. That's the reason why I'm looking forward to it, at any rate.

That was the most irritating thing about this teaser. Bear McCreary's glorious soundtrack was missing and in its place we have this garbage. It's pretty fucking awful even by the already low standards of contemporary music. It's nice, in a backhanded sort of way, to be reminded why I prefer instrumental stuff. Thankfully, McCreary is going to be scoring the series so even if the characterisation and storytelling are pure dogshit at least it will sound fantastic.FSTargetDrone wrote:Now, if I could only unhear that shit-tastic cover of "Immigrant Song."

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome teaser
Having recently finished the series and wanting to see more about the universe, I care. I tried Caprica but I couldn't even finish the pilot. That was a while ago and the low opinion of what I saw may change if I attempt to watch it again.Stark wrote:While I'm surprised anyone still cares about this property, im eager to see it defeat the champion of bad spin-offs ... Re: Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome teaser
Personally I think the Worst Spin-off Ever in SciFi Award belongs to Trek thanks to ENT and if the ratio of space battles to everything else holds true I'm definitely interested even if the characters turn out to be the dysfunctional misers the nBSG cast were.
And nice to see the video being back up. It went temporarily 'forbidden video' not quite 3 seconds after I finished watching it earlier tonight.

I don't see how early nBSG was all that much better. The mini wasn't that bad (other than the patently ugly Mk VIIs) but halfway through s1 I was rooting for the Cylons. There wasn't a single likeable main character.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome teaser
I've seen this stated repeatedly by certain people (purists mostly) and I want to know why this is the case. Is it nostalgia for the old series with its more straightforward collection of heroes that skews their viewpoint? What exactly makes the BSG ensemble so unlikeable? How should people deal with a post-apocalyptic situation, anyway? I just don't understand what's so loathsome about them. They're no more or less flawed than people on this planet, except they have the burden of dealing with a remarkably shitty situation. It's easy for us to denounce them but how would we react in such circumstances?Batman wrote:I don't see how early nBSG was all that much better. Then again I'm the kind of guy who's drawn to interesting characters regardless of what side of the moral divide they fall on.

Re: Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome teaser
You confuse 'realistic' with 'likeable'. Yes, the nBSG characters may very well have been what you would expect out of people in the situation they were in. Guess what-they were still dicks. The oBSG characters , campy as the setup may have been (and make no mistake, it was so campy it hurt-Cylon Western Town Sheriff, anybody?) it at least had heroes and a clear Good vs Evil angle. nBSG had me wanting to see the humans be exterminated and be done with it.

'Hero' does not equal 'likeable'. 'Hero' merely means you did something good somewhere it mattered. That doesn't prevent you from being a miserable piece of shit as a person. I should know-I'm the world's second most prominent superhero and I am a miserable piece of shit as a person. You don't see Adama as a hero?

I'm sorry, have you actually watched the series? Pretty much every main character is a psychic wreck and a lot of the series focused on them when the focus should have been on the SciFi action.Adrian McNair wrote: And in what way were they "dicks"?
