Mass Alien immigration to the US

Post by The Yosemite Bear »

Just because I was watching the news and the talk of folks in Arizonia, Texas, California etc, and paths to citizenship etc. Someone said that the words "Alien" is offensive so I came up with this RAR.

11.1 Million extra terrestirals find themselves stuck in the US with no means of getting home.
2 mil Greys seem to have crashed into Arizonia (drunk flying was involved)
3 Mil Newcomers Slave/Prison ship breaks down near LA just as described in ALIEN Nation.
3.1 Mil Prawns mothership breaks down in the Gulf coast region simular situation to what happens in District 9
3 mil lizards from V are now trapped along the east coast, their mothership taking the worst of a super storm.

Ok, what do we do with these undocumented aliens

oh and ET and family are hanging out in the woods of one of the National Parks located in California.

Funnily enough, my first thought was of Alien Nation. I see lots of questions being asked, a handful getting answers, and probably dissections.

It only makes sense to quarantine the aliens until we can be sure that we won't give them lethal diseases and vice versa. After that, there's probably too many to effectively contain, though we may well end up trying.

I'm assuming for purposes of this discussion no one's seen the shows described. Otherwise things could get very, very nasty between us and the Visitors (V) very quickly.

just for a plus 1, a guy named Kent tries to file under the dream act, having been living here all his life since he was placed in a stasis pod just prior to the destruction of his homeworld....

Texas, Arizona and a few others go apeshit and ban everyone not a WASP? I think they already did that one though.

Yes, and Texas along with Lousiana now have the Prawns, and Arizonia now has Greys....

I guess Sherriff Arpio's tendancies will bring new meaning to Probing....

Three million prawns on the Gulf Coast? The best and brightest thing to do would be to eliminate before they get chance to out-breed and out-compete us. Therefore, we'll have the world's biggest seafood boil. We're gonna need a shitload of corn, new potatoes, and newsprint. Please pass the Tabasco sauce.

It made me think of Alien Nation also! I think it would start a war, due to the large numbers and the fact we can't get a long with our own race.

Are you serious? If so, I'm fucking disturbed at how quickly you've jumped to genocide as a "solution".

Funny how nobody saw it that way when the guys from Visitors were essentially trying the same approach from the other side.
@Bear:the Kent one had me laughing out loud. Thanks. So, is it just him, or are the guy with the Oreo habit and their assorted riff-raff coming too?
And yeah, first thing I thought of was Alien Nation, too.

Any tech? No? Well, since we arent a brutal Imperium that spans the galaxy, then we can expect these fuckers arent alone. Which means we need to put on a reasonably nice show of not being xenocidal dickheads. Because we are in a much more vulnerable position than them.

However, Ghettofication and Segregation are going to happen. And the same arguements against the Jim Crow Laws arent going to work, what with these being legitimately different species and all. It might end within a century if these were The Lizards, due to them being basically just people and highly relatable, but most of these guys?

Nope. So most wont be slaughtered, but that doesnt mean the stay will be nice or pleasant. Hopefully its enough when the calvalry arrives and wonders what happened to their citizens and how they were treated.

Actually I'd say the Newcomers are a lot more relatable than the Lizards as they integrated into human society easily enough and had customs pretty comparable to our own (including teenagers rebelling against their parents and drug abuse). I suppose Greys refers to some specific alien species I don't know because the generic little grey aliens would include anything from the Asgard (which are amiable enough once they get over how primitive a species we are) to the Sectoids of XCOM fame (which aren't amiable at all).
As for the Kent fellow, not only are reprisals from his people over the way we treated him highly unlikely even if there were somebody left to make them, it's a good bet he'd be on our side :D

Are the Newcomers a funny forehead alien? Are they the ones with the "hurr mr.seahorse durr" shit going on?

Sorry but the Lizards are cooler and thus, more relatable.

Huh, maybe Clark will dedicate himself to smoothing things over. He's pretty much the poster boy for aliens that are helpful instead of some sort of subtle menace.

For all their weirdness the Newcomers are pretty similar to humanity once they've had a couple of days to acclimate to our atmosphere, and a couple of years to adapt to our culture. It helps that they look a lot like us while still being easily differentiated at a glance, were very docile and peaceful when they landed and have a big, easily exploitable weakness to make us feel safe around them.

The Visitors, by contrast are terrifying alien lizards come to conquer us, ideally without a shot fired. Oh, and they can disguise themselves to look just like us. Even if no one has seen V, the Visitors must be hitting all sorts of paranoia buttons.

The Prawns are also really docile and not at all threatening, but they are the least human in appearance and psychology, thus the hardest for us to relate to an coexist with.

How do you know they're cooler when you obviously have no clue who the Newcomers are to begin with?
And silly me. Here I thought 'more relatable' was about stuff how when you got under the different biology and looks, they're pretty much like us. You know, like the Newcomers. But no, obviously a race that came here essentially to steal our resources and eat us is far more relatable...no, wait, at least for an american, that's depressingly accurate. Though I still fail to see how them being cooler figures into it.

I hope they will accept that explanation when someone comes looking where the missing ship is.
A minute's thought suggests that the very idea of this is stupid. A more detailed examination raises the possibility that it might be an answer to the question "how could the Germans win the war after the US gets involved?" - Captain Seafort, in a thread proposing a 1942 'D-Day' in Quiberon Bay

Basically:
Newcomers: Genetically Engineered slave race, look very much like humans, have wierd bony heads, sea water causes acidic type burns, very strong compaired to humans, oh yeah their females implant embreoes in the adominal wall of the males.- From Alien Nation
Greys: Typical Popular culture little Grey Men, could be like Paul could be like Septiods, could decide to wear cheap business suits and work for the government (OMG actual men in black), physically weak, do have some telepathic abilities
"Prawns": Large humaniod Lobster like aliens capable of making feats of Bio-technology based equipment. Fairly Docile, but their bio-mechanical weapons (part technological part biological) can pack an enourmous punch.-From District 9
Lizards/Visitors: Humaniod reptiles, can make themselves look like humans, very PR savvy, strangely close enough to humans to interbreed, seriously their mothership seems to have broken down over Ellis Island... -From V the TV series
Klark Cent: The last survivor of an alien world, became a reporter, and came out after all the other aliens did. rumors say he may be decidedly different from the normal human that he appears to be. - DC comics
ET the extra terrestrial: small extending neck, allegedly found in the forests and subberbs of northern california, constantly eats junkfood, makes intergalactic long distance calls, heals people, makes bicycles fly, and replaces all police firearms with walkie talkies. From ET

I imagine that there will be roundups of the assorted alien species, just like what happened in Alien Nation and District 9. Also, any surviving ship, operable or not, will be raided by scientists looking for new technologies to exploit.

With so many aliens running around all of a sudden, I would think that the US government (and others) would be cautious enough to seize control of facilities that could possibly be used to broadcast a signal into space...the last thing I think ppl want is even MORE aliens coming here (not to mention both the Visitors and the Kleezantusun want to exploit humanity).

Interesting idea...I wonder how the religious community would take the sudden arrival of 11.1 million aleins. I imagine the religious nutters will come out of the woodwork at first, decrying the ET's as demons of Satan's Army (not hard to do when you have Prawns and unmasked Visitors/Syrians). When the initial shock wears off, there will be a few kooks who will try to preach to the aliens, despite the aliens having cultural and religious beliefs of their own, such as the Tenctonese. After all, that's never stopped Christians before, why would they treat the aliens be any different?

And if they don't? We just ate 3 million of their kind, for all they know they're just in time to be the second course.

What's to say that these religious nutter kook aliens won't start preaching to us? (Besides of course the fact that they're dead, because we ate them, I mean.)

I don't seem to recall any of the Tenctonese EVER proselytizing their religion(s) to non-Tenctonese. Though, IIRC, there were a few humans in the Millennium Cult.

Id rather deal with aliens that cant pretend to be human and are clearly aliens. None of this bullshit of how we are all just the same. Because no, youre goddamn aliens with a seperate evolutionary chain ENTIRELY so fuck off.

"They look like us and so are just like us" Is incredibly fucking stupid reasoning with something that has billions of years seperating it from you. Better that they not be able to pretend otherwise. The fact that they are so 'human' is disturbing and indicative of a xeno plan for subversion through pity. Fuck em.

Prawnbros? They didnt come here on purpose and apparently did the equivalent of pulling to the side of a highway due to a breakdown. Undwrstandably, they have some differences in sociology and behavior. But still roughly understandable in motivations. Lizards? Again, actually fairly different. But still relatable.

Hurrdurr newcomers? Fuck off. Thats shits suspsicious as hell.

You do no the only ones of the presented selection (except Clark) who can do so are your oh so relatable Visitors, right? All the others are distinguishable as aliens at a glance.

That'd be your Visitors. All the others (again excepting Clark) never pretended to be human, and are unlikely to be mistaken for one.

You do know the only way to mistake a Newcomer for a human is heavy cosmetic surgery or a full face helmet, right? Well, or being drunk as a skunk.

Interesting definition of 'almost human' you're working with. So, would you agree that Jem'Hadar, Cardassians and Klingons look almost human too?
And how in Valen's name is them being peaceful somehow offensive? And it's been a while since I saw Alien Nation but I can't recall them being any more or less peaceful than your average human.

I don't understand how beings who view humans as little more than food can be considered "relatable." Even Daniel (the visitor youth leader) wasn't looked on very highly by the Visitors until he sold out his own family. And when there's suspicion of him assassinating Brian, they don't try to hear his side at all....instead Stephen ignores his pleas and sends him off to Food Processing.
I can't recall them being any more or less peaceful than your average human.
Just like their human counterparts, Tenctonese people occupied a broad spectrum. There were priests and cops and librarians and such...there were also robbers, drug dealers, hookers and even the Kleezantsun started their own mafia.
