AKA "Romeo and Juliet with ZOMBIES!"
So yeah, just recently watched the movies and was quiet delighted, surprised and overall pleased with the movie.
It has a very different and refreshing take on the normal over done Zombie Apocalypse movies.
The setting for the movie is '8 years' after the initial fall of mankind (keep that number in your heads, eight years)
The first bucking of trends is that humanity is not utterly wiped out and destroyed. A rather seizable amount lives on in a "Fortress City", which is several city blocks of that have been sealed off by a Massive concrete wall. The military ( or what remains of it) seems to be in control and sends volunteers out during the day time to scrounge supplies from beyond the wall. On one such outing a girl, Julie, mets a Zombie "R" and the story gets underway.
But what really makes me enjoy this so much is that, for the most part, this is the Zombie Apocalypse from the Zombies viewpoint. "R" narrates much of the movie and fills the audience in on whats going on. Even before R meets Julie, it is clear he still is a 'person' of sorts, he can think, sorta, he collects shiny things, listens to music (vinyl, better sound) He lives in a jet airliner full of knick knacks. In a way he is like WALL-E before meeting EVE. Curious, trying to find his ay, but without any purpose.
It is sweet and adorable, and really, when did oyu think you would ever hear those words in a Zombie Apocalypse movie?

Yeah.. not exactly sure what to make about that comparison, other than both male leads are pale undead creatures devoid of any emotion...
Scratch that, R had WAY more emotion then anyone in Twilight

Has displaced "West Side Story" as my favorite version of the Romeo and Juliet story.
