Logan's Run (SFdebris)

The ending of the film reminds me of WALL-E, in which the people who had lived their whole lives on the Axiom are returned to earth. The difference being that the Robots on the Axiom were still there and able to do their job just fine afterwards while people learned how to take care of themselves while in Logan's Run the toga clad guys who had lived in their Mall Utopia have all the mechanisms of society broken down in front of them and are cast out into the wildnerness. The babies in the nursery are just the start of it, I would give these guys a month before they start eating each other.

On the bright side FREEDOM... right... :|
It has become clear to me in the previous days that any attempts at reconciliation and explanation with the community here has failed. I have tried my best. I really have. I pored my heart out trying. But it was all for nothing.

You win. There, I have said it.

Now there is only one thing left to do. Let us see if I can sum up the strength needed to end things once and for all.

The Wall-E end title sequence is really genius for just that reason; it gets rid of all the usual implied-famine and death that these stories have.

Totally agreed, and I'm pretty sure they put it in there JUST to avoid people having that discussion.
I want to say I heard "Somewhere" that the ending sequence, like the timespans of the movie itself, was supposed to also take place over 700 years.

Back on topic...

The "kids" from Loganns Run have no such luxury... They're just screwed

They say as much in the director's commentary.
