Turbo Teen- I wonder Who Came Up With this Idea?
The concept of a teenage boy being able to shapeshift into an actual working sports car- I wonder what kind of drugs the creator was taking.
And I wonder if James Cameron would be able to direct a multiple-Oscar winning live action film based upon this cartoon.

It makes (slightly) more sense when viewed through the early/mid-80s filter. It was an attempt to do a quick cash-in on Knight Rider, which was huge at the time, and cartoons featuring self-operating sapient vehicles as protagonists were also a thing, with Transformers G1 emerging to capitalize on the success of the Go-Bots around the same time.

Given the 80s.... well, as it was put in the Chappelle Show, "Cocaine is a hell of a drug".

The boy to car transformations always creeped me out. To think of it that they were triggered by something as mundane as getting in contact with something warm made it worse. Really, if this had anything but a silly SatAM cartoon it would have been a terrifying horror vision.

That intro makes me remember some live action show where a bunch of teens all could transform into cars. I can't remember anything more about it though.

I wonder what Cronenberg could do with the idea?Metahive wrote:The boy to car transformations always creeped me out. Remember Brundlefly fusing with the telepod? Yeah, that should give you a glimpse of it.Jub wrote:

That sounds like it. I vaguely remember watching this cartoon after Marvel Superheroes. If anyone wants to google it, Robot Chicken had a dark take on Turbo Teen where the car gets vandalised.
