Shadow Puppets

Post by SirNitram »

Orson Scott Card has come through with another interesting novel in the Bean series(Though apparantly the bastard went behind my back and wrote more of the Homecoming Saga!), though I'm still trying to peice together the history of this alternate-world. Anyone else read it, so I can elaborate without spoiling?
Manic Progressive: A liberal who violently swings from anger at politicos to despondency over them.

Out Of Context theatre: Ron Paul has repeatedly said he's not a racist. - Destructinator XIII on why Ron Paul isn't racist.

Shadowy Overlord - BMs/Black Mage Monkey - BOTM/Jetfire - Cybertron's Finest/General Miscreant/ASVS/Supermoderator Emeritus

Resident OSC fanboy to the rescue!

It is not aparallel world. If you remember, there is 50year time jump while Ender is in transit to his new home at the end of Ender's Game. During that time Peter became Hedgemon and united the world. This is the story of how that happened.

The First book, Ender's Shadow is a retelling of the other book from Bean's POV. The next one, Shadow of the Hedgemon tells of Bean aligning himself with Peter to unite the world and oppose a Battle School washout who wants him dead.

I am yet to pick up Shadow Puppets.

Alternate world in relation to our own, I mean.

For one thing, they've never had a Shuttle lost.

I'd be willing to bet that that line is in relation to the IF, not all space travel.

Nope. This other Bean is really smart. :)

I'm waiting for it to come out in paperback, I only buy Star Wars books at the outrageous hardback prices. Actually now I think about it that's a bit daft as the Ender books that I've read so far have all been better than Star Wars novels . oh well.

Yeah, but the Star Wars books have that cool Star Wars art on them and it always looks better in the large hardback size. :)

I have read it, I did not find Shadow Puppets as compelling as the other two were.

Spoiler Space

I was damn happy to read the part where Bean blew Achilles' brains out though.
