What year in the future is the original ALIEN movie set in?

don't think anyone knows, but as far as the other movies, Aliens was set what was it, 57 years Ripley had been out there floating? Alien 3 we don't know how long the trip was (the trailer I have on my aliens DVD says alien 3 was going to be on Earth) when they crashed on the prison planet. Alein Resurrection I think was 200 years after the original Ripley died.

There is an Easter Egg on the 1st Alien DVD with crew files on the backgrounds of all the crew members of the Nostromo complete with dates. Sadly I don't own the disk or otherwise I would try to look it up.

Let me check the timeline on my Alien DVD, it has a biography of everybody on the ship and so I can get it close.

yeah, it says the scheduled trip was from 2121-2122.(btw, this is the same thing that was behind Ripley in Aliens during the debriefing)

Alien takes place in 2122, while Aliens occurs in 2179, 57 years later. (Source: Aliens Technical Manual).

And iirc, the dates listed on the Nostromo's crew records shown on-screen in Aliens supports the 2122 date, as well as the mentioned 57 year interval.
