6> A cloud of luminous nanotech utility fog? (Similar to 1>, and raises the problems of nanotech. But if you already have force fields and FTL travel in a scenario ... well ...)
7> An extradimensional "solid" being that can only insert a 3D slice of itself into our plane of existence? (The 3D part would be an infinitesimal portion of the being, and therefore massless - I think
