Federation away team vs. Congo guerrillas

Post by Sea Skimmer »

A run of the mill Federation twelve-person away team beams down to the planet Congo, looking for some ancient ruins and there fabled dilithium mines. However a strange ore makes tricorders useless, has blocked long-range comms and prevents beamups. With typical Federation planning the starship, which dropped them off, has gone off on another mission and will not return for six days and five nights. Unknown to the away team, the surrounding hills hold some one thousand Congo guerrillas, with over 150 males. The team has eight pulse phaser rifles and four-hand phaser's as weapons

Can the team locate the dilithium and ruins and have at least one member make it out alive?

Maybe. If the gorillas rushed in the Feddies would be too overwhelmed to take them all down. They would all die. If the Feddies could locate the Dilithium quickly enough and find a fortified position to hunker down in they might be able to make it. But only if the gorillas don't rush in enmass.

I take it you mean like ... rebels?

What are they armed with?

I assume it is the gorrillas from Congo, the book or movie. If it is the book they have stone paddles that they use to crush skulls with. I don't remember if they have them in the movie.

They are grey and stronger and smarter. They are also vicious killers and were trained to be security guards for the mines, but they rebelled.

No I mean the Grey gorillas from the book Congo by Michael Crichton. They're somewhat smaller then normal gorillas but communicate with each other via sign language and make stone tool with which to smash people's skulls. The inhabitants of the city of Zinj in the eastern Congo trained them to guard their diamond mines in the 14th century.

They dislike visitors..

Book ones. The movie ones where more aggressive but didn't have stone paddles and also seemed stupider.
