A friend and I had an argument as to what the Quickening was.
As a quick note, the part where he becomes one with the things around him, and Sean Connery yells: "This is the Quickening, this is the Quickening!" is the bit I was referring to.
What was the Quickening?

What was the Quickening?
"Oh no, oh yeah, tell me how can it be so fair
That we dying younger hiding from the police man over there
Just for breathing in the air they wanna leave me in the chair
Electric shocking body rocking beat streeting me to death"
- A.B. Original, Report to the Mist
"I think it’s the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."
- George Carlin

As a quick note, I'm only allowing arguments from the 1st movie, not that god-awful 2nd movie.

Re: What was the Quickening?
You can intepret it that they are both right. It takes the ability to become one with the things around you to be able to accept and fully utilize the power of a dead immortal, meaning the seizure and light show. Thus the first part is the Quickening as a process in and of itself while the second uses the Quickening to absorb something. Therefore they can both be the Quickening.Gandalf wrote:A friend and I had an argument as to what the Quickening was.

This is of course something I made up. Take it as you will.
