Monsters, Inc. vs the USS Enterprise-D

Post by Isolder74 »

Here's the situation
Image
Monsters are scaring kids on the Enterprise, but the Monster, Inc.'s Scream Collection Machine is destablizing the Wrap Core. The Monsters don't know this and are stepping up production to the closests of the ship's bedrooms because they have gotten more energy out of these kids than anywhere else.

How long before their efforts will destroy the Enterprise?

I give it 15 minutes.

Forty-five minutes, so it can fit into one episode, and because just about anything can destroy a Federation ship, including the combined efforts of a blue hary monster and a talking testicle voiced by Billy Crystal.

Since only the Warp Core is being affected, and presumably it will take longer than thirty seconds, that's enough time to press the "eject" button.

Enterprise-D lives.

The crew of E-D try to find a diplomatic solution, but are unable to. Eventually, they choose to sacrafice their own lives for the monsters. How noble  and idiotic.

Which won't work because of some Technobabble reason to increase the tension of the problem.

DAY ONE:

it will take one day to wear out all the tecnobabble and the monster world will have a power surge of energy as the kids get more and more nervous. (the ship blowing up and the failed attemts of parents to tecnoprotect their kids from figuring it out)

DAY TWO:

the phycologist in the holodec will call this a special case and ask to have observation .
he will se the monsters and think he has gone crazy.
he will scream more than the kids will thus the power surge.

DAY THREE:

having discovered the power of tecnoprotected parents the monsters start scaring parents too
due to the confusion and freiking out all over the ship someone kicks the warp core.
this send it the last straw and boom
the monsters sense the panic and duck in the closets and the resuting screams from the ship power the city for a year.

Then this would be an actual episode of Star Trek, and since the ship survives 99% of the time, then probability states that Enterprise will survive.

10 seconds. Those Warp Cores are so freakishly unstable that just the acoustic scream would detonate them.

To summerize.
1) The Enterprise D has a core ejection sequence.
2) The paramiters say the only the warp core is being de-stabalized. Nothing else is being affected.
3) Nothing has caused a Warp Core to explode in less than thirty seconds.
4) It takes around 30 seconds to press the "eject" button.

Pfft and given the failure rate of said device is around 85%...I say they have poor chance of ejecting the dumb thing and are still killed.

The fact that all it takes is usually a love tap nearly to make the thing of critical, I'm amazed no show hasn't done, the Warp Core ejection is triggering the Warp Core to explode.

Thats right, no need to fear being bitten. Now gunshot wounds and napalm burns areanother story.

The cast majority of times they try to eject the core is AFTER they have sustained heavy damage in one form or another. In this case, only the core is being de-stabalized.

one day because the Ent-D warp core can be taken out by a six-year old with a sling shot.

To summerize.
1) The Enterprise D has a core ejection sequence.
which has never worked. The only case of the ejection system working is on board the E-E!
2) The paramiters say the only the warp core is being de-stabalized. Nothing else is being affected.
As if that isn't enough!
3) Nothing has caused a Warp Core to explode in less than thirty seconds.
It happened once in the time loop episode with the USS-Bozmen. Time 5 sec.
4) It takes around 30 seconds to press the "eject" button.
so they would be trying to solve the problem rather than just do the sensible thing and eject it. They never think of that until way too late.

but I never Flame unless you really push me. I was only speaking for myself. As for the vote I want to see what reasons someone picks a option so that I understand where they are comming from.

now the idea was 1 scarer destablizes the core, 2 makes it worse, ect.

Dur, the pussys in Monsters Inc. were afraid of little kids. I'd like to see how they could take down the Enterprise's crew, whihc is armed with phasers. Or better still, how could they hurt worf or Data. They could never blow up the Enterprise. Anywon can see that.
