The dogbot was called K-9 (boy was it's voice irritating)

Well, why not asking for a soligram :D ?

Unless you'd like a more physical entertainment  .

But was Guri "fully functionnal" ? Did Xizor ever shagged her ?

Holy shit. You made me hesitate.

A nearly invincible killing box vs an incredibly sexy surhuman bodyguard..... :?

Well, if I have a Culture drone I'm in the Cultureverse, meaning daily sex orgy anyway  8) :D

So Culture drone because :

*it has combat abilities rarely matched, useful against most threats ( see page 2 of the sticky Culture thread )

*it has vast knowledge and immense database

*it can operate as a surgeon ( force fields, laser ), painkiller ( effector ), the ideal first aid kit

*it can use its soligram projector or holoshroud to go unnoticed and interact with primitives

*it has its own personnality, most drones met in the Culture novels are even more sympathetic than the human characters. It has its own humour, preferences... I especially like Skaffen-Amtiskaw from Use of Weapons.

My own drone would be rather small-sized ( smaller than Skaffen, but bigger than Mawrhin-Skel or Flere-Imsaho, say 30 cm in lenght, that kind of stuff ), and could contain several knive-missiles, scout-missiles and micromissile, as well as an ordnance of perhaps a thousand nanomissiles, and a remote neural link ( through a standard Culture neurolace ). Colour : perhaps sharp blue :), or silver ( Naboo cruiser-style ).

Oh, Culture drone, most definately. Having a humanoid robot for pleasure would be cool, but Culture drone can do just about everything BUT that. 8)

You just get the drone, hence the preference of a sub-sentient version, just so I can take over the world.

*effector on bush, and entire american electorate*

Amazingly president bush resigned yesterday, and the entire american nation chose their first foregin leader ever, with a one hundred percent vote and one hundred per cent turnout. Amazingly all relevent groups passed the nth ammendment, which says the above is null and void, and hte Nth+1 which says the president can do what the fuck he likes. More news as it happens.

rinse and repeat.

I'd still prefer both.

Err Necron, I think you overestimate the small effectors  ... although ship-mounted ones could potentially do that  .

OTOH, the drone might have some interesting mass-control methods in its database :D

Well, if you want a Culture drone, just survive until year.... 2110

I'd know how to build them. Take years to build a weapons grade effector using modern tools and improving. Until then I could get laid alot... I intend to, though i think they'd still be primative by that time.

Using its fields and nanotech, the drone should proove useful in creating tools and the mass effector itself. Alternatively : effectorize some NASA responsibles and place some satellites equipped with effectors ( and since effectors are also high-tech sensors, and offensive weapons - "suck" or "blow" settings-, it would be nearly impossible to shoot them down with present weaponry ), and then ... take over the world   !!!!!!

Could a Dog bot include the Dr Who K-9 unit, with full files on all Timelord tech, etc?

I don't think that K-9 knows all that much about time lord tech. Considering the Doctor built him, and his technical skills leave much to be desired (hence the tardis is always stuck in the form of a victorian police telephone box) I'd rather have one built by the Master.

Clearly dimensionally transcendant and filled with storage.

Though on one occasion the brain was removed and was about 20cm^3 :?

Remember the Dalek Planet killer that was the size of the Ent-E?

Or for that matter the hand of Omega was pretty small for a stellar manipulator.
