Hegemony, then Church of Dan Simmons' Hyperion and Endymion sagas vs
1°) United Federation of Planets
2°) Klingon Empire
3°) Romulan Star Empire
4°) Dominion
That's 1 vs 1 full scale war, and of course no Shrike or whatever.

It'd be a bit tougher for the Hegemony, but the Church owns Star Trek.
Groundwise, ST has nothing that will stand up to a FORCE:ground or Pax army.
In space, ST still looses. though they might actually win against the Hegemony. But the Pax will kill them. Deathbeams are a bitch...

If the Technocore wants the Hegemony to beat the Federation, they will. Of course, whether the Hegemony goes to the Technocore for advice is a whole different matter; if they don't the Feddies have an excellent chance. I don't have any good numbers yet for their weapons capabilities, but the Trek ships have far better manuverability. The Hegemony doesn't have inertial compensators, so they're limited to 4-5 G acceleration in real space. I'll probably have some good stuff on how fast the Hawking Drive is and where it works later, but I'm still re-reading the second book.
On a larger scale the Hegemony has a better ability to move things; the Farcaster Portals allow instant movement of starships and people between systems, and the Fatline gives them an edge communications wise.
For ground combat Trek is so out classed... If the Feddies school the Hegemony in space, the Hegemony would still have a good shot at winning a guerilla war if they can drop well outfitted soldiers onto Fed worlds.

I give it the hegemy-verse. Accroding to the secound book a sizable fleet can explode stars and even destroy most of the hegomy if it went crazy. Considering the fact that most of the fleet could easly be brought to any point thru farcasters, its almost a certainity to me.
The Pax is worse since there ships are supposed to be more powerful, and on top of that have solar system crossing ranges, and the deathbeam.

I don't remember the FORCE ships having star destroying capabilities in large numbers, but I wouldn't put it past the Technocore fleet, which I do remember having performed several simultanious delta-zero type operations.
As I said, I'm re-reading Fall now so I'll find out for myself soon enough.
Another factor in the Hegemony's favor is that they are used to having space battles at realistic ranges. The Trek ships are faster, but the Hegemony will be engaging them while they're still trying to get their formation sorted out.

They DO. They are clearly implied in The Fall of Hyperion, when a manned ship reaches 300 G accel. And they're explicitely mentioned in Endymion.[/u]Sriad wrote:The Hegemony doesn't have inertial compensators, so they're limited to 4-5 G acceleration in real space.
