The worst was the way he would bait by disquising his castings as appeal to ignorence questions, such as the "Define Fundamentalist" thread and miriad posts in other threads.

I'll have to admit feeling the same way. Having seen his antics in the past, I knew the shit was going to hit the fan the moment I saw him here, but I just made popcorn and got ready for the show.jegs2 wrote:It's a moot point now, but @ wouldn't have voted to ban him. Found his conversations particularly amusing ... rarely (perhaps since Darkstar) have I had the priviledge of witessing the power of just one individual to infuriate so many with little effort. It is with a somewhat wry sadness that I realize I'll not see so many spirited replies due to his posts...
It's too bad we can't have him around for a probationary week or so after today. It'd be interesting to see if this poll has any effect on his attitude. Probably not, but it would be fun to watch.

He had it coming.
He could have been as controversial as he wanted to, but he didn't have to be a troll about it. I actually thought he'd come around and face Mike in a moderated debate near the end, but he seemed more intent on posting merry-go-round non-arguments instead.

You could start a thread about the differences between McDonald's and Burger King's burgers and he would hijack it into a debate over the morality of voting a vegan into office.
Bitch got what he deserved. Someone call up the MIT Special Ed department and tell them one of their students fell off the short bus on the way to school.

I used to have a high opinion of MIT too. when did they start letting anyone and everyone in?

You may think me insane, but I voted no. This could be because I've only had one real debate with him and haven't bothered to view his thread toxifying effect on most other threads. Ignore me.

No, there was one a few months back that was like 70 to 1. Although that may have been a VI poll.Joe wrote:Wow, 46 people for the ban. I believe that's the highest number ever in favor of banning.

To a small degree, he bugged me for the same reasons.EmperorMing wrote:At the risk of judging a book by its cover, the mere sight of his avatar and name made me stay far away.

Since everybody is dissing MIT and I did sing the first line of the song, I might as well try to come to their defence.
He admitted (and it was confirmed later) that he was actually a PolySci major. If their PolySci is anything like our equivalents at Georgia Tech, it totally sucks. Our liberal arts school is for the rejects who couldn't survive a real major in the colleges of engineering, science, or architecture, and that's where you find the whiny little idiots (they're not all idiots, but they definitely have more than their share). After all, most people know MIT from its engineering departments, not for its PolySci program. Really serious people interested in politics or law would go to a school more noted for it, so MIT's program gets all the flunkouts of engineering and dumbasses who can't make it into a real PolySci program. They don't get the best and brightest.
Not to say I'm defending Rev Prez, but it's probably unfair to judge a university based on its most idiotic graduates. I'd hate to know how Tech would be judged if you started talking to our village idiots.

It wouldn't be surprising for a PolySci major to promote subjective methods or denigrate science as mere "intuition". I should have picked up on it when he started harping about "accepted social science" definitions of "fundamentalists" in defiance of the standard English word definition.
