What should be done with Ted?
Based on what I've read in the discussion thread, these are the options available to the board:
Nothing: Exactly what it sounds like. When his temp ban expires, he regains his status as a regular member.
Extended temp ban: Ted's temp ban is extended by however long the community and the mods feel is necessary.
Insulting custom title: Ted gets a nasty custom title, but otherwise is allowed back into the fold. The title will be worse than his current "Obnixious".
Chewtoy: Ted gets an insulting custom title, and all his posts are hauled off to he HOS. All the other members of the board may feel free to flame him.
Perm ban: Ted's IP is permanantly banned. He is exiled from SD.net forever.

Perm Ban...he has been and still is going out of his way to incite flames and to scream at people for little to no reason.

Perm ban. My reasons are also in the Ted thread.

He's gone. I've been watching his shit since he first went truly psycho (I'm sure everyone remembers the "Weekend of Hell"), and its been going down hill from there. Once you start stereotyping entire groups' sexual preferences (homosexuals) and cultures (Irish), and just his plain anti-American bullshit he shoots off in politics everyday, its time to go.
I vote perm-ban.

Explanation of the "Chewtoy" option.
No matter what Ted posts, it goes to the HOS, where he will be flamed continuosly, and his posts editied by the Horsemen.
As I've said before, making Ted the chewtoy would help the members let out steam, that they had been keeping inside them. It will also, hopefully, ameliorate some conflicts. If Ein and Shep, for instance, are both flaming Ted, then, hopefully, they won't have time to flame each other.
Have a very nice day.

Can this one be stickied too?

BTW I think I speak for many mods when I say that I don;t feel like following a poster around and kicking all his posts to HOS. Its easy and fun when you read it but not so easy when you're the one that has to impose such a restriction.

Nothing, I don't see anything in that thread that's worse then his usual shit, in fact it seems less so to me.

I'm not real big on banning a guy because his typical shit happened to offend a few important people on the board. It smacks of favoritism.
Howedar is no longer here. Need to talk to him? Talk to Pick.
Maybe it's because he keeps on doing it, unprovoked, and now, finally, they're sick of it?Howedar wrote:I'm not real big on banning a guy because his typical shit happened to offend a few important people on the board. It smacks of favoritism.

I don't see that he's done anything more than Shep, he just insults different groups.
Not that I have anything against Shep.

If we're going to take action, then it should be real action, and if we're not willing to perm ban him, then we should let him back without doing anything to him. A custom title isn't going to stop him, and this chewtoy business will be nothing but an excuse to spam mostly for people who spam too much as it is. Not to mention mods and supermods are going to have to follow him around moving his posts, unless there's an option in the board software to confine an individual member to one forum, which I doubt.

In that case, a extended temp ban should suffice. I don't see a reason why we should perm ban someone who's not a real troll.RedImperator wrote:If we're going to take action, then it should be real action, and if we're not willing to perm ban him, then we should let him back without doing anything to him. What's the difference? To me, he's the exact opposite of some of the charity cases Mike's had. There have been some who started out as trolls, changed their behaviour, and now they contribute positively to this board. Ted's the exact OPPOSITE. He started out fine, something went a little screwy, and he became a troll. If you choose to not see him as such because he used to be a functioning member of this group, that's your choice, but it doesn't stop him from being that very thing.

Ted is certainly less annoying than the asshole-extraordinaire, Enlightenment, who was never banned. I say let him stay but give him a really nasty custom title until he cleans up his shit (which will be never, but one more chance won't hurt).

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.
