SDNWorld Redux - Casting Call & Planning

So, can I get a wholly island nation like last time and pretty much let it run autonomously until I decide to pillage random nations for resources? That'll affect what kind of military I decide to build.

EDIT: Also, I'm proposing a few things for the Army section:

Okay...I have finished writing about the Great War.

Bean, check out my post in the History thread, especially the parts about Khitan (Titles: Colonial Ambition, Second Khitan Colonization Wave, Khitan Rebellion),and see if they suit you. If not, let me know and I'll re-write them.

Everybody else, see if you like the Great War and let me know if something has to be changed.

BTW, I will need to remove the "Brief" from "Brief history of the Constitutional Republic of PeZookia"

I figured I'd need a navy mostly to control the shoreline and project modest amounts of power for disaster relief etc.

PeZook, that's... quite a small navy you have there. The army I was looking at is more oriented to sea control and amphibious assault (I'm stacking 2 Marine regiments plus 2 Armor Divisions and only 1 Infantry and Airbourne).

I guess with that, my army is smaller than yours, but a much stronger navy.

Yeah, but you depend on sea control for trade. PeZookia is almost totally landlocked...then again, we are surrounded by friendly FUN countries...decisions, decisions

I may shift my forces more towards amphib in that case, or maybe I'll be the "Strategic Killer" of the FUN and spend most of my points on strategic bombers

Personally, my Air Force and Navy will get very heavy investment, though the Army will receive CAS aircraft and other UAVs and some other upgrades just to keep them well up to date. Otherwise, it's heavy interceptor and missile defence galore, along with a fleet to fend off any invader. The amphib assault units are mostly meant to deal with any overambitious fool. Probably will go on a 10% of the total economy expenditure.

I intend to make the Middle East my little territory to milk dry.

They don't. The EU has no joint defence policy in place, and every country goes for itself, because people are dumb and think that a pan-european defence ministry would be LOL TOTALITARIANISM

Any joint defence programs turn into ultra-expensive boondogles because of that.

I think I'll cut out the SSNs entirely from my OOB, and buy strategic or tac bombers instead. If I reduce the SSKs and oiler numbers and save some points on trainers, I can squeeze in 23 strategic bombers, or 46 additional tactical bombers. With 200 4.5 and 4th gen fighter + 96 tactical bombers we can take on any Balkanized shithole comfortably.

Technically, I'm MESS but I am not averse to some kind of collaboration.

Of course, there has to be a strict distinction between MESS and FUN work. They aren't going to scramble to my help if it happens to be a more FUN related affair.

It's hard to decide what role Canissia would play in major wars-- until we have a map up, I have no idea what the geo-political situation looks like.

For example, in the distant past, Tauron and Virgon mercenary knights from Canissia helped the Medival Shroomanian state beat up PeZookia; but then in the 1800's Canissia helped fund & equip colonial revolutions in Shroomanian colonial holdings... so there's history both for & against Shroomania, so things like geography & resources would be major factors...
