I'm sure Steve will get to it soon.

On a side note to Tanasinn, the Kryptonian Empire is famously isolationist and has been for many centuries, so it's good that you left a fairly healthy buffer zone between you and them. There might be a little nervous maneuvering or something going on in the neutral zone between the two states, but it's probably best if we establish that as a dead zone. I say this because I've been working with Timothy C on a plot of our own, and I feel an obligation to watch out for his interests in this matter.

Also, the Eoghan United Commons you plunked down next to is populated entirely by an alien species. They're not isolationist, and Sorchus might well appreciate more interaction opportunities as far as I know, but it's something to consider given your background as "militantly pro-human..." you went and sat down straight between two of the handful of alien empires on the map.

Siege, I like what you've got going here. Obviously "old times" don't exist for me so Sidney and Shady aren't recurring characters from my frame of reference, but I do like it.

Well, they won't trust you, but they'll have no ideological reason to hate your guts or anything. They shouldn't be inherently any harder to deal with than any of your other neighbors, I'd think, and considerably easier than some.

Don't read too much into my choice of position, guys, I'm not out to start a war with anyone. Yet.

I've actually toned down the humanocentric aspects of new humanism due to the different tone of this game compared to the last and the greater opportunities it gives me for political shifts through role-playing. These guys aren't the Imperium "PURGE THE XENOS, KILL THE MUTANT, BURN THE HERETIC" of Man. As for plunking myself down in between aliens, hey - variety is the spice of life. One way or another, it's going to be fun.

On another note, I've got no problems keeping the space between me and the Kryptonians a dead zone, particularly if you guys are working on something on the side. That the Humanist Union has long been a reserved, insular power makes this easy to justify "in character," too.

I really wish we still had the Pfhor as an active nation in this game. Then Shinn's machinations would be much much more interesting. Pollux you still around? >.> <.<

There's going to be one more update to that, but it'll be quite a while before it comes up barring an unexpected muse-visit on my end. Or Shroom's end... though I don't want to think about what Shroomy uses for a muse...

I'm not adverse to Shinn mediating in the whole sorry matter, but rest assured (or not) that restitution of incurred damages is a very real demand. We also wish the Chamarrans to express some solemn awareness of the fact they were mucking about in a very, very sensitive matter, which is something they so far don't seem to be able to do. We don't appreciate random people messing around when there's two Monoliths hanging around, and merely stating "oh but we were just collating intelligence" won't get you out of this particular pickle.

Force Lord, could I get a sense of timing from this? Is this message about the Zebesian Pirates sent out in March? April? Later?

Aiming for April. The Navy General Staff meeting was made a few days before the diplomatic message.

EDIT: Does anyone find something familiar in my Naval Chief of Staff's name? :P

True the Hierarchy has issues, which along with not having the full debrief of what the hell happened is why they haven't admitted that the problem here was that the stealth cruiser captains werent given enough independence for working this far away from fresh orders(This is as far from home as they've ever operated and as you've probably guessed Arri would of probably just stayed quiet for the duration if she had a choice). Also that their paranoia about AIs was what led to one going all hal 9000 on them. But on the other hand, having Olympus demand deep grovelling from prideful feline royalty from the get go may not have helped matters either.

Also there's two assumptions i operated under during the incident regarding the way our universe works that bear querying on:
1. The sensors you use while going at FTL are bad at detecting stuff that's in realspace if it's not doing hyperspacey stuff. So the Sneakily didn't actually know there was a vast armada there before they dropped to realspace.
2. That the Sneakily does it could not of spun up hyperdrives without being detected by the sensors in the system.

Oh, I'd say the Hierarchy has issues, like how easy it is to extract HUMINT from them... :P
"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'

The latter is probably noncontroversial, at least given the sheer number of advanced sensor platforms in the system.

The former might be a bit more troublesome, but even if it isn't a generally accepted truth of the setting, it might well be true of Chamarran sensor technology in particular, since Chamarran hardware is in many ways different from the interstellar norm by virtue of being descended from the stuff given to them by some unknown alien species.

Oh yeah, the Praetorians are the only ones of the Legions/armies who can partake in the Elysian orgies of the Presidium where Senators, male, female or otherwise, can fuck them if they please. Great generals can also join in. But in these orgies, as per Praetorian traditions, they will never remove their war helmets. For that is the mark of their martial greatness.
