Acheron can facilitate extremely rapid airlift for the Umerian equipment if that's necessary.

Acheron's atomic energy people would prefer to, after the experts and consultants have determined the best course of action, let the Umerians (and whoever else) do the actual on-site dirty work.

Well this is going to take adjusting my intro post.

In a good way mind you. Just might take a bit longer to post.

I'm thinking the bickering and lack of clear chain of command between groups is going to be more entertaining then the actual fire fighting. I'll give it a bot longer for anyone on the East coast to wake up and decide if they are interested.

Finngolfin Spoiler
at the moment, I'm thinking to base it on the Windscale fire in the UK: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windscale_fire

So neutron flux builds up dislocations in graphite rods, which spark. I'm not planning on it being a continent consuming event, as long as other powers don't fan the flames :)

Most Umerian senior leadership probably won't think of hiring private airlift to get in the heavy equipment in a hurry; their plans are based on disaster response within their own country, where getting the equipment in by rail would be adequately fast.

Also, the 83rd's equipment is already on the train by noon on the 2nd (local time); stopping to unload it at an airport and fly it over would probably make things take longer. Even getting heavy cargo jets to a Umerian airport, loading the 42nd or 119th regiment's equipment, and flying it over to Champa would probably only gain 12-18 hours at this point... which come to think of it, an outside-the-box Umerian thinker might actually go with. Especially since they're thinking of this as a potential Chernobyl, not a potential Windscale. Just have to see if they'll think of it. Will get back to you in a few hours, maybe.

Our position on that would be: "It's Champa's reactor, Champa's problem, Champa has to make the hard calls. We'll offer our suggestions as pertinent, but the final decision rests with Champan authorities."

We will, of course, express that sentiment to whomever else is there. Assuming we're even approved to come in.

Found myself with some unexpected free time and put together a story post. Also, I put up a very rough OOB; I based my numbers off of real-world countries with similar prosperity levels, so they shouldn't be too out of line.

Well, he already failed the Vice President for the last time.

And on that note, Part 2 of my introduction is up. Part 3 should be coming soon. I think that'll be the last part, but we'll see if it goes to a 4.

Oh god, eco-hippie-terrorists.

Hmmm...maybe they have comrades in Orion or the Protectorates that we could root out.

And with that, Part 3 and the finale of my introduction is up. Introduced a few characters and a few institutions (of which "The Turks" is super duper top secret  ), gave a brief insight into some of the Republic's internal politics, and started up a little tension between Komradistan and the Republic of Fuso, with Klavo and Shinn's permission of course.

Now I suppose I can officially respond to that Champa Crisis. But first, dinner. :)

Also FYI, "Eulica" is NPC 21, since Gill took former NPC 20.

Hmm, RogueIce, would you mind if I wrote up a few posts detailing Orion's efforts to root out other cells of these eco-nuts you've created? I think the quiet peaceful life in Orion is about to be broken.

You can, sure. Just shoot me a PM first. I have a few ideas on the future of AVALANCHE, but I'd like to see what you have first.

It can be easily worked around regardless. If nothing else, otherwise not associated groups taking up the name after news of the successful raid is released (as that was most certainly released to the media, as implied by the ending conversation).

And, finally, my response to the Champa Crisis. Requesting permission for a 30 person NEST team and their gear (all of which is transportable by two heavy airlift planes) for immediate deployment. Getting a Hospital Ship set to deploy within 24 hours notice if there's a lot of casualties and local facilities are overwhelmed. And a Carrier Group will be hanging around in the general vicinity of this part of the world just in case they're needed, though from what madd0ct0r has posted I doubt they will be. Still, doesn't hurt to keep them handy.

Yeah basically I won't be contributing significantly to a clusterfuck of too many people trying to help all at once.

I'm responding because Orion loves nuclear power and doesn't want to see anything tarnish it's image, plus we just happened to have a Task Force nearby.

I can't help but think you're making some not-so-subtle jabs at Champa's whaling efforts with those ships :D

Also, do you always shadow my forces when they are returning from a port visit to your country? I ask out of curiosity, you understand.

Just building up that goodwill.
And Fischer definitely made sure to send a message with those names of the ships.

[aside from the current thing, a majority of Rheinland ships are named after Whales and Dolphins.
Current naming conventions:
CVNs: Whale species and Famous ships
Battleship/Battlescruisers: Marine Species and/or famous persons, famous ships
Cruisers: Famous battles or historical events/persons
Destroyers: Dolphins, famous naval ships
Frigates: Adjectives relating to whales/dolphins, famous naval persons, general adjectives

(of course, back in the old days ships were named after a lot of different things). Naming conventions are not binding, some oddities are to be expected. ]
Eternal_Freedom wrote:Also, do you always shadow my forces when they are returning from a port visit to your country? I ask out of curiosity, you understand.
As I stated in the first OOC thread, Rheinland always shadows forces that have entered the territorial waters of Rheinland. As your forces are probably travelling to the west alongside the sealane Ostrheinland-Westrheinland that would also have coincided with the usual patrol route. If they are travelling to the south the patrol would have stopped the minute you were three days away from the Rheinland border (earlier if there was another target to shadow).

You do realize you're opening yourself to a massed bombardment of 'beached whale' jokes if one of your ships ever runs aground on a mudbank or something, right, Thanas? ;)

EDIT:
Yes, it took the chief of staff three hours to think of hiring transport planes. Umeria has no cargo aircraft capable of moving more than about a thirty-ton load, and relies heavily on its rail network for internal operations.

I figure that since SANDEX explicitly has an air transport division, and since Eastport is a major city (population probably not upwards of ten million, but might be close), they'd have their own office in the city to coordinate international cargo/airmail flights.

I blanked out the name of the regional airport in Champa (the one closest to the endangered reactor), because I myself don't know it. Mad0ct0r hasn't gotten back to me on that. When he does, and hopefully fills in another piece or three of information, I'll have another post to make. :)
