Hey Seigetank, given all the assassination attempts and possible bio terror outbreaks I imagine it will probably be a while before Hank gets a chance to to visit Indhopal to discuss those projects we talked about via PM. Just wanted to remind you about the visit.
Hopefully Hank will not get his yacht sunk by a secondary attack or anything though.......
On another note all the talk bout stealth vs. detection makes my head hurt. There's a reason I stick to plots in third world nations and so forth rather than delve into subjects that are purposefully obfuscated by those who practice it like electronic warfare and stealth aircraft design/detection!

But yeah, don't bother with the points system. Look stuff up on wikipedia and what not to get a general idea of what you can get for your GDP and just go with that.

Thanks for the reminder . I hadn't forgotten it though, and I'll be over as soon as possible. EDIT: Also, I thought I'd make it clear - OOC - that the substance released in the Tri-Cities is a chemical weapon, not a biological one. It's the final missing cylinder of the weaponized compound stolen from a SiNtek ship years ago, the stuff San Dorado fought a miniature war on the Costa over to get back. I don't think you'd be able to tell it apart from Astarian zombie fever at first glance so precautions are very much warranted, but this substance is a nerve agent, not a pathogen. So there's no chance of infection beyond the contaminated area, no chance of a pandemic or anything of the kind.

So, Shroom bitches and moans about Czechmate rejoining(as a mere Duchy) because he might be in the MESS camp, but Crossroads joins the game as a Tsardom, joins CATO because "I was in Omsk in the last game lol" and not a peep?

So, Stas, how does an OTH radar work?Stas Bush wrote:Okay, so if an OTH radar can pick out a ballistic missile head flying at a particular range, which has neglible RCS (and has essentially no outstanding features to speak of), so can it pick out a bomber, no matter the crappy resolution. By sending a wave to reflect off the ionosphere. As the radars are bistatic, the receiver and transmitter are separated. To find a moving object, Doppler effect is used. Higher power on the emitter is used to increase the potency of signals and thus of their returns.

So how is something that works based on a atmospheric effect supposed to detect something outside the atmosphere? And OTH radars aren't necessarily bistatic. In fact, bistatic implies significant separation between transmitter and reciever (the amount of separation depends on wavelength).

Why outside? The missiles can traverse the atmosphere (especially ballistic RVs and/or low flying cruise missiles).Beowulf wrote:So how is something that works based on a atmospheric effect supposed to detect something outside the atmosphere?
And large over the horizon PARs like the Daryal certainly are bistatic. Maybe I'm confusing something here. In Russian, the larger EW arrays are also considered over-the-horizon (nadgorizontniy) versus beyond-the-horizon (zagorizontniy)...

Well, Crossroads at least hasn't claimed to start a war from the beginning of his nation's existence. And in any case, it's not like we cared so much about Czech joining the MESS. More about Czech even existing.
CATO requires due process to join. We're actually somewhat curtailing our "openness" because there is some fear of technological leaks. There are some rules, you know, CATO isn't a free for all.

That's a particularly rich argument coming from someone who's usually among the first to claim that real life sometimes interferes with the ability to respond to developments in the game. Let me just remind you, have you seen any posts by Shroom in this game lately?CmdrWilkens wrote:The point was, and it does deserve some reiteration, that Shroom nearly shit a brick that Czech might join the MESS but he has made nary a peep that you are coming on board with a CATO-lean even before your country is fully formed. For another, I think Czechmate has done more than enough to warrant some serious concern from CATO members when it's made clear that he wants his next nation to sit right off the coast of the Old Continent. I'll have you note that the moment Czechmate's islands got moved way over to the coast of Tian Xia or wherever the fuck, the complaints evaporated and he's free to do whatever. Do you see any of Crossroads' islands sitting off the coast of Messica? No? Then what are you making comparisons about?
And third and finally, whoever the fuck said anything about the Crossroads joining CATO anyway? Is that even anything but a vaguely uttered possibility right now? Didn't we reach an agreement about due process when it comes to membership of the great alliances way the fuck back in the days? Aren't we sticking to due process when it comes to Cialan's membership?
So basically what I'm asking is, what got your panties in a twist all of a sudden? I know you jackasses like to pretend you're Snow White the innocent princess that can't do no wrong, but Jesus H. Christ, even you got to admit this is fucking preposterous as far as criticism goes. Get a fucking grip on yourself.

Do you guys think you could -not- mention me when you're arguing about your alliances? I haven't said a single harsh word about Crossroads joining CATO and I've been busy figuring out my own stuff, so leave me out of your internecine bullshit.
I don't give a rat's ass where Crossroads goes, and none of you should be concerned where -I- go either. As you so often like to mention, your powers could easily wipe out a Tiny Little Duchy, so I'm not a threat to any of you. I'm doing a new thing in a new place (and bouncing a lot of ideas off Steve for his yay/nay) and we'd all be better off if you people would recognize that and drop your worn-out schoolyard grudges.
That's all I've got to say about this, thanks.
