“You underestimate the Technocracy,” Olympic injected snidely.
He does; we're actually playing a fairly complicated game with a liberal dose of mad SCIENCE! and trickery involved.
If we can't outwit the Bragulans enough to at least get something material out of it, we should probably call it a millenium, pack it in, and collectively move to Shepistan or Prussia or something.

Of course. Othello however is a purely military-oriented CI who's spent the last few hundred years dealing with the possibility of the Bragulan Menace Storming The Koprulu Gap. When one has dealt with the Brags for such a long time, one probably begins to think a little like them. Certainly one's penchant for tact and subtlety would degrade -- or at least, it has in Othello's case. Or maybe he was just never designed with tact and subtlety in mind, which is another distinct possibility.
FL and I are going to play a bit with this plot; with any luck we may be able to turn it into a long-running arc that incorporates a wide variety of activity.

Also. Why is it when the Hierarchy chooses to send their best the Sovereignty choose to send their second to worst?
Actually, he's the worst. It's just that the Sovereignty wants to make a point about the issue of infringement of sovereignty...
No the worst would be if they somehow found a way to send Olympic. That computer does not do diplomacy, it simply inflicts its character flaws on unsuspecting foreign governments.
Edit:
SCratch that. Fingolfin is right, sending Brigadier Stalin shows that frankly the Sovereignty don't care for this mediation.

In the same way opening your weapon ports is a sign of respect?

Hmm...there has to be a flaw in there somewhere that I'm not seeing.

Wesley Birkin should direct a movie about the Battle of Pendleton.

Begin writing the script and filming immediately! I know a classic starship collectors' club who'd be willing to do some standins...
"The 4th Earl of Hereford led the fight on the bridge, but he and his men were caught in the arrow fire. Then one of de Harclay's pikemen, concealed beneath the bridge, thrust upwards between the planks and skewered the Earl of Hereford through the anus, twisting the head of the iron pike into his intestines. His dying screams turned the advance into a panic."'
Too bad the real events in Pendleton, with everything from Bragga to Balthier, will be even more outrageous than the fictionalized version.

If they tried to show the Bragulan/Shepistani part in anything resulting reality, it would be laughed off as ridiculously unrealistic.

The Umerians would shiver upon seeing it. The Shepistanis might just laugh, or down some liquor in the case of Tight. The Bragulans would probably execute someone, thinking there was a leak somewhere.

Just so everyone knows, I was thinking of opening the attack on the Space Pirates in early June, for reasons of preparation. So if you have other plans for the rest of April and May, no problem.
EDIT: Posted a filler.

So the Zorians get a major intelligence coup with one $100 valued ship destroying "several" Raider vessels, which I guess means that all of the Pirates are Ultralights and Yachts, which is ridiculous. Are you even trying, Zor, to do something other than write about how your faction wins everything with minimal to no effort?

He's all those things true.
He's also a genocidal bloodthirsty lunatic.
That's silly. Is Brigadier Stalin bloodthirsty? Yes. Is he genocidal? When one gets on his bad side, almost certainly. Is he a lunatic? No, he's not. He is simply an avid believer in 'might makes right', and finds himself in the comfortable position of usually being the guy with the most might around -- as befits the man whose job it is to settle military disputes with Bragulans who respect only brute force.
Now, can he be uncomfortable to deal with? Sure he can. Is that why the Sovereignty dispatched him? Sure it is. However it bears keeping in mind that the Chamarrans just showed up in the galaxy, subjugated a whole bunch of human worlds, reduced humans in their Hierarchy to an underprivileged underclass, and have been unabashedly unapologetic about the whole sorry affair. The message the Sovereignty is sending then is that if you think you can deal with us the way you deal with your human peons, you've got another thing coming
The reason the Sovereignty didn't send Mr. Hank was because there'd be a chance he'd be too reasonable, and that as a result our point might get lost in translation. Because we don't want there to be the slightest possibility of a misunderstanding between us: we didn't like you to begin with, you've really pissed us off, and we expect our grievances to be addressed swiftly and properly or else we'll be forced take measures to address the matter ourselves.
Much like we did with the Collectors.

I know how we can do this! Zor can be beating up on the weaksauce faction of the pirates, while everyone else fights the fierce, powerful, dangerous pirates!
To be fair, Force Lord did place the pirate bases very close to Atlantean space; Zor has a right to be involved. I'd appreciate it if he could write actions that don't just involve jumping up and down and declaring victory since I already have one of those to deal with, but it's not my theater of operations and not my problem.
