A foreign minister should know all there is to know about policies of the nation he represents, after all, and it's quite understandable that a head of state may not always be available.
Yeah, I know. But considering the purpose of the event, I thought it would be reasonable for the nations leader to attend personally.
Perhaps, but considering the personalities of all involved, it may not be such a swell idea to have everyone show up (plus, imagine the pressure on poor Cascadia!). After all, putting the Huang Di and Sidney Hank in the same room might not be a good idea. So certain considerations might want to be taken into account along those lines. As well as the security concerns of having all those leaders in one spot.

We might want to consider a leader or two for a "public face" with the other representitives foreign ministers and such. Perhaps with an eye on those generally seen as the cooler heads (remember the CSR representitive walking out of the Frequseuan negotiations?). Hopefully, foreign ministers and Exarchs or whoever will be briefed to, y'know, not do that. It would be...bad for cooling relations.
Fingolfin_Noldor wrote:You know, when I joined the MESS during the last game, it was after a glorious fuck tonne of PM conversations. Then off I went and declared that I left OMSK.

Shortly thereafter, after another round of PM conversations, between me and Stas, Stas decides to leave OMSK.

Are some of you suggesting that every fucking bit of that should be posted up? I don't have to point out that OMSK died a very fucking quick death and there was very little indication in-game that it would die.
I thought at least some of those were public or got reposted? And to be fair, Shep is the one who killed OMSK. And we weren't exactly going for the slighter level of "realism" we strive for here, remember. Our people were basically lemmings who'd support us to the death.

Now, they're less so as the premise of this version goes. So things are a bit different this round than last time, admittedly.

EDIT: Also, as memory serves, in the middle of all that is when Shep was doing his Libertia thing, and the UAR formed. And very shortly thereafter he shot those nukes at my convoy, which very nearly started a war. There were a lot of tensions during that period, and damned near a full-out nuclear war. So it wasn't quite the same as this. And definately not very pretty.

Nope. None of the stuff that went through PMs was mentioned in game because it was all supposed to be secret arrangements instead because Shep was not supposed to know that there was a MESS member now on his west most flank.

Ah. Well, we got away with more. Because we didn't know as much then.

Plus, see my edit. Those were not exactly "good times" either. And the UAR wasn't thrilled with us doing that sort of thing. Heck, remember why we got nuked in the first place, over fears of some secret first strike plot. Granted it was OOC and blah blah blah, but secret, sudden major changes are not a good thing to those on the outside. As we learned when our last world went up in nuclear fire. :P

Ok, I am making a locations map for the Vineyards in regards to Frequesue, with the politcal divisions, what states are officially in CATO/CATO Observers/Applicants, which are officially MESS/MESS Observers/MESS Applicants?

So far Frequesque has Tian Jiao, which is a MESS member (as a province of Tian Xia), and The Vinyards/Eutopia which has fused together and is a MESS Observer.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.

I'm CATO, obviously. So's the NFT, and our various bits of the CFR. The ASFR is a UCSR client state. That's about it.
Conversion Table:

2000 Mockingbirds = 2 Kilomockingbirds
Basic Unit of Laryngitis = 1 Hoarsepower
453.6 Graham Crackers = 1 Pound Cake
1 Kilogram of Falling Figs - 1 Fig Newton
Time Between Slipping on a Banana Peel and Smacking the Pavement = 1 Bananosecond
Half of a Large Intestine = 1 Semicolon

Are they officially, I thought that the CSR had adopted an attitude of apathy to the ASFR? Also, did Mirata make any moves towards CATO, or are they just moving warships around for kicks?

I'll be posting a bit about my new bomber (because no one objected) sometime late this week (after I get my [rather ugly] taxes finished).

Since Shady expects to be able to order them to meet with, you I'd say the AFSR is firmly in the UCSRs pocket still. You've a point about Miratia; I'll let Ryan answer that.

I don't know, the UCSR would most definitely have tons of pull, but I'm not sure that it would be a full client state, massively indebted to the UCSR yes.

Everyone knows it was the smart thing to do, otherwise Shep would have killed us all, again. Like he did last time and tried it this time as well.

Doesn't matter. All it proved what was that you people were just as willing to committed genocide as Shepistan was, especially if you thought you could get away with it(Double hilarious because Stas gave tacit approval for Shepistan's BW attack on Astaria). The difference being that Shepistan did it openly.

Selling "the rights" of Klavostan to Tonkin changes my position not at all really. I was perfectly willing to back the coup leaders, no matter how bloody they end up needing to be to win.

I also was and still am willing to risk a nuclear exchange over this so everyone think really carefully before you commit military forces to Klavostan.

As far as the rest of you are concerned, yes. ;)

Officially, Miratia is allied with CATO, but not a member of it. I'd have the Assembly screaming for my head on a plate if I joined them publicly, but they realize that A: we can't exactly hold our ground when push comes to shove, B: that San Dorado is CATO and we get along well with them, and C: that we don't trust Tian Xia, so they're willing to settle for that arrangement. :P

It will also be interesting to see how we all deal with the Sultan issue, as no one actually has the real body  .

Ugh. My OOB is terribly out of date by this point and I'm going to have to put serious thought into how it gets updated. The IRT has been transitioning much of the RTAF into an air-defense/strategic warfare alignment; the Navy has undergone some expansion (and is preparing to begin to move to nuclear propulsion).

Indhopal would be advised to tread very carefully against a Great Power who has repeatedly noted that it will use nuclear weapons liberally.

Yes, I have a space shuttle now, and it's bigger and much better than our timeline's shuttle.

Oh, just to warn everybody, my writing is going to become intentionally nutty for the next little while, since I'm going to be sort of having my OOC self interacting with my IC self as its written.

Hence the pseudo-conversation in the middle with the exposition/narrator. :)

If it gets too confusing, I'll stop. :P
