I am still out of town circumcising children and stitching up vaginas torn open in childbirth.

FUCK, looks like I'll have a lot of catching up to do when I get back home. Goddamn it.

Uh, yeah, Siege go have PM Shroom piss the Shinrans off and talk out loud about how their nation of androgynous albinos is being ravaged by GEOSTIGMA. :P

[Though seriously, yeah. I REALLY did regret the hare-brained decision to detour from Messica to Frequesue for that CATO meeting - since, yeah, Rogue's right that we spend too much time meeting and drinking vodka cigarettes and shit. :P

But yeah, that was a big faux pas - ditching Messica like that. Sorry RogueIce. Will you find it in your (GEOSTIGMA-infested) heart to forgive your fellow DCAU Batmang fan? :)]

Don't worry, Sirnoth will not be annexed to the Old Dominion.

Which, as an aside to all, doesn't touch on the fact that if you are going to accuse another nation of attempting to outright annex another nation then you should probably have some evidence of that otherwise it tends to poison the well of negotiations before things even start. Adding in statements like the last sentence are the kind of thing that end diplomatic missions on the spot. The fact that talks continue is more on the fact that Rufus is willing to let insults to his (and yours 'Fin) ally roll off his back.

You might like to note that most of this was verbal, and I did not in any way implicitly accuse anything beyond requesting that Sirnoth returned to normalcy. Nor was this written on paper, but a reflection among Byzantines that the Old Dominions do not regard Byzantines as trustworthy allies. So I am rather surprised that this should be treated as an accusation instead, especially when I said whatever that happens between the Sirnothians and the Old Dominions is entirely their own matter and though not said out loud, it meant we would not bloody interfere.

IC I have no opinion because I'm not going to hear anything about it until I get the summary of the meeting from Rufus via normal channels. In other words I'm going to get an edited version that will likely omit anything even vaguely resembling inflection and be limited to a distillation of facts. OOC I can say that were I at this meeting the statement that Lord Fairfax won't listen to what you say regardless is definately an insult directed at the OD. When you say that another foreign leader doesn't care about world opinion that is an accusation. The Sirnoth stuff woudl probably be cleared up in a minute or two of additional conversation but its hard to walk back from saying that Fairfax doesn't care what others say as there is no way to sugar coat that statement.

Let's just say that the Byzantine side was rather flabbergasted by the use of nuclear weapons and the lack of consultation on the use of such devices and having to learn of it through the news about the use of such weapons.

And yes, perhaps i should have toned down that bit.

And EDIT: You also might say this is our unhappiness expressed in private.

It's time for another crazy idea.

This time, its a plane the size of a C-130 loaded up with racks of Hellfire- and/or Maverick-equivalent missiles, rigged up broadside-style like an AC-130's main armament.

The idea is to have a temporary stand-in for tanks until real tanks can arrive on the battlefield. They'll be acting as part of my rapid reaction forces.

So, if anybody has a better idea along those lines, or something I could adopt from someone else, your input is welcome. :)

One problem I can see immediately is guidance: you need to guide your missiles to individual targets. This puts a limit on the amount of missile you can launch simultaneously.

Another is getting rid of propellant gasses.

Yes. I don't expect to be able to launch (at a guess) 48+ missiles at once or anything. That'd kind of defeat the purpose of the craft, anyways. Its supposed to take the place of some 2-4 tanks or so until reinforcements (which would include real tanks) can arrive and take over for it.

The best capability I have at the moment can plot firing solutions for up to twelve separate aircraft simultaneously.
Another is getting rid of propellant gasses.
That's simple enough, unless I'm mistaken. The bit that houses the missile racks would be open-air, sort of like a gigantic bomb bay. In fact, you could put the missiles in recoilless launch tubes and then make the opposite side of the craft open as well.

Now, there'll be drag issues with this, I'm sure, but what I'm not sure about is how serious they'll be...

To be honest, you could achieve the same effect using a dedicated bomber with a bomb bay to release and fire missiles.
