Byzantium convoy arrives in Diocese bearing much needed aid.
The convoy of ships from Byzantium arrived today in the Diocese bearing much needed aid. The WCT vessel brought much needed construction equipment and aid workers set to work immediately upon landing. Earlier, an An-225 arrived with doctors and medical supplies and rescue workers. It is believed that more transports on on their way bearing more aid. The Byzantium Government also deliver millions of dollars in donations from the Patriarchy of Constantinople. The Byzantine army also delivered some BMP and BTR-90s from their stocks of vehicles to the Diocese military to aid in efforts to restore order to the nation.
The devastation has been reported to be severe indeed with much of the coastal city wiped out. His Holiness, the Patriarch Ramsley thanked Byzantium for the much needed aid. Byzantium is reported to have agreed to supply Ramsley with Dromon corvettes to help patrol the shorelines as well.

The captain of the SRS Fortuna and courtesy commodore of TF-23 went over the operation again, and was surprised at how smoothly it had turned out. After the Shepnukistani convoy had offloaded and left the area, his convoy had come in and onloaded a portion of the MBTs and IFVs that had been given, leaving enough for General Alexander to form his armored regiment of some 60 tanks and a number of IFVs. Inspectors from the Shinra Republic embassy and Alexandrian military had done an inventory and count of what was offloaded, what was reloaded, and what was left behind.
They were now on the way to The Most Curious Kingdom of Saint George and a safe storage site for the equipment now in the holds of his FCS-Ls. Inspectors from the MESS, FUN, and Alexandria itself would meet him to do a second inventory and oversee the safe storage of the equipment, until such a time as Alexandria was ready for the rest.
He had no idea of what the reaction would be by the UAR when they found out, as he was sure they eventually would despite their attempts at secrecy. But for now, at least, all he had to worry about was making it safely to St. George. He issued an order, reminding the sonar crews to stay alert.
He didn't expect trouble, but it never hurt to be prepared.

Operation Northern Star was well underway, and now the latest group of MESS peacekeepers had arrived. The 1st Midland Guards and 5th West-Clarks Grenadiers, two light infantry regiments from Wilkonia, were even now processing out for eventual shipment to the Neverhood port city of West Jaffa, the northenmost element of the multinational deployment. Day before, the 20th Infantry Regiment (Air Assault) from Tian Xia had deployed to reinforce the 15th Infantry (Air Assault) in Eshkelon Bay. Both units were watching over the Lone Star Republic's Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One (NMCB-1) in the Eshkelon suburb of New Haifa. There was also a shuffling of the Shinra Republic's 9th Air Assault Division, with the 903rd Air Assault Regiment heading down to Port Hadera to reinforce the Canissian 1st Marine Expeditionary Unit.
There were discussions amongst senior MESS commanders of reinforcing the 1st MEU to the status of a Marine Expeditionary Brigade, although so far no official action had been taken.
Finally, the Wilkonian Brigade of Marines was setting up in various Canissian bases along the north coast. They were being held as a reserve, in case anything happened, though everybody involved hoped they wouldn't be needed as anything more than a temporary relief force, a stop-gap as units transitioned out to go back home. The Tian Xia 8th Sustainment Regiment also remained back in Canissia, coordinating the various logistical efforts from that end.
All in all, this gave roughly two regiments of light infantry based in each of the four major port cities of the west Neverhood. Their primary mission was to establish a firm presence of law and order, transforming those cities into havens of stability. From there they would then expand out, bringing the countryside under control from the various militias and revolutionary groups roaming free. So far there hadn't been too much difficulty: the residents of the western portion of the Neverhood had largely supported the government's actions to become a MESS Protectorate, and they welcomed the presence of the MESS peacekeepers.
There were many who wondered whether the MESS would use this presence to eventually try to force a reunification of the Neverhood, or whether they would settle for the rough borders already established. Still, while official policy had not been announced, many believed it was doubtful such a move would be made, at least in the near future. After all, the MESS had deployed primarily light infantry in the peacekeeping role, while the Shepnukistani government had deployed a full Armored Corps in the east, and had announced plans for a buildup of similar forces.
The world press was, as they usually did, naturally comparing and contrasting the differing moves made by the two factions. While the MESS had deployed light infantry, Shepnukistan had deployed tanks and armored fighting vehicles. While the MESS had started dialouges with local government and were largely working within the existing structure in place, Shepnukistan was creating their own police and military forces, and establishing "strategic hamlets" of their own accord.
Which tactics were viewed more favorably were, of course, up to the various perspectives of those reporting and commenting...

Wrecked port facilities, roads, schools, and unreliable power and running water are just some of the many problems Naval Mobile Construction Battalion One(NMCB-1) of the LSRN Seabees are facing in New Hafia.
"We had to disembarked at the airfield in Eshkelon Bay and ride in trucks down here. Our we didn't have enough heavy equipment moving trucks, so we've had to make 3 trips back, across mud roads that are really too narrow for this short of thing." The CO of NMCB-1, Captain Brian Lowen said.
When asked what the top priority projects would be, Captain Lowen laughed.
"Hmm...Roads, port facilities, airfields, schools, utilities or Hospitals? Howabout all of the above? And we have to take the security situation into consideration."
Master Chief Master-at-Arms Ronald West describes the security situation as:
"Less, far less, than adequate. Under the Shepnukistani Regime the police were little more than corrupt traffic cops. We really have our work cut out for us. That's why the LSR is sending a law enforcement taskforce to New Hafia, and has drawn up a plan to create a West Neverhood Gendarmerie. We have a lot of training ahead of us."
In fact, the Fort Worth Star Telegram has learned that 70 Humvees, 30 surplus DPS Durangos, and 12 M1117s for the West Neverhood Gendarmerie are already being shipped.
"Because of our relative lack of firepower, it is essential we put trained Neverhood Officers of the Peace on the ground as soon as possible, and make sure they have the tools they need." Said West.
In addition a medical mission, under the command of the LSRN, is deploying to New Haifa to provide help in the Public Health system there. Military Mobile Medical Battalion One has approximately 300 corpsman and medics, as well as 50 doctors under the command of a Navy Captain.

Shinra Republic Navy: F-14 upgrade completed ahead of schedule
The Shinra Republic Navy announced today that they were taking delivery of a squadron of F-14D+s direct from Tonkin Aerospace Group (TAG designation F-114H), bringing the fleet to full capacity ahead of schedule. The remaining F-14D squadron, currently being upgraded, will continue as planned. No word has yet been announced on what the Navy will do with the excess airframes, though many speculate they would be donated to the joint-MESS aircraft carrier project.

While the Coilerburg government has only approached Shepnukistan so far for weapons sales, the Duchy of Langley has seen it as an opportunity to offload some of its surplus weapons.
Prior to standardizing on the 6.8 mm Remington SPC cartridge and readopting the .45 ACP cartridge, the Langley Armed Forces used submachine guns in 9 mm Luger Parabellum and rifles in 5.56 x 45 mm NATO. Prior to adopting the Heckler & Koch UMP45, the Langley Armed Forces used the Heckler & Koch MP5 as its standard SMG; various M16-pattern weapons, namely the M4 Carbine, were also used throughout the Armed Forces until replaced by the Heckler & Koch HK416 and the Fabrique Nationale SCAR-L. The M14 and Heckler & Koch G3, both 1950s-vintage battle rifles, faithfully soldiered on until finally superceded by the Heckler & Koch HK417 and Fabrique Nationale SCAR-H; their respective sniper rifle conversions, the M21 SWS and the G3SG/1, were likewise both replaced by the Heckler & Koch MSG-90. The attack on the conference was not all. The Free Hand movement had attacked Indhopal with 32 men who were ready to die and well equipped with body armor, military small arms, and explosives. As part of the deal, 800 Heckler & Koch MP5s and 6,000 M16-pattern rifles (2,000 Colt M4 Carbines and 4,000 M16A4s) have been handed over to the Coilerburg military. As a bonus, the Langley Armed Forces added a consignment of 1,500 M203 grenade launchers to the order; the grenade launchers had been in storage ever since they were replaced by the Heckler & Koch M320 in 2004. The weapons arrived yesterday in Coilerburg aboard a pair of A-90 Orlyonok ekranoplan transports, along with a small force of Marine Corps military advisers who will instruct Coilerburg soldiers on how to use their new weapons.
The Coilerburg military is to pay a flat fee of only US$5.5 million for the entire weapons consignment, which includes ammunition and other associated paraphernelia (cleaning kits, scopes, spare parts, et cetera).

Bakewell B-1C Program Report
Lot IV (40 a/c in 2012) and Lot V (50 a/c in 2013) have been cancelled by the Shepnukistani government, as part of an overall military cutback. All materials already delivered as long-lead items for Lot IV and V will be held as surplus spares for the existing B-1 fleet.

PQM-184 First Flight!
After about a year's development work, the full scale PQM-184 Land Attack Missile (LAM) prototype flew a circular roundabout route from it's launch site in the Neverhood Testing Range, Shepnukistan over the Great Western Ocean, before making a brief approach towards Saddamistan; close enough for signature data to be recorded by Saddamistani engineers; before turning away for it's long run into the Great Western Sea.

May the Lord strike him down should he fail in his solemn duties." The document had the seal of the Emperor.

The Byzantine Government announced today that it was sending more aid via another WCT that was rented from Constantinople Shipping. More aid flights will be sent as well.
Constantinople Shipping will purchase 10 4000 TEU vessels and 10 more WCT from Constantinople Shipyards.
