Just throwing that out there.
As I said, half of Costa. It wasn't as if I had any real interest in Costa, either.

Steve wrote:Indeed. It doesn't justify them either. And that doesn't even count when Veg and I both basically declared wide-ranging alliances existing in Veleria (I tried to justify the one I announced as a response to Japanistan's resurgent interests in Veleria, yes, but looking back I had way too many NPCs sign the Treaty of Hasiyah; OTOH Veg basically declared "my country needs such an alliance to continue their Velerian presence, therefore we negotiated it", along with his attempt to avoid our abolitionist ire by saying his new allies forced him to outlaw the slave trade). We really need some way to fairly run NPCs (granted, there're not many left in this game, but maybe if we ever do Round 3) so they don't become convenient strawmen for us to knock down for amusement.
.
Well wasn't part of the idea of the NPC states in the beginning was so people could have their nations do things militarily without attacking other PC's? I seem to recall that was specifically brought up. Though perhaps it was more in the context of "we need more third world areas to make things more realistic," and given everyone's style of rule (and that no one wanted to roleplay a shithole as their main nation full time) that led to a lot of interventions.

About the player council idea; even with that it would be hard to ensure that NPC nations are being run in a logical fashion. The biggest problem is a lot of the NPC nations didn't have a history until the player interacting with that nation (often through a military intervention) bothered to write one for them. How does one adjudicate what is logical for a nation to be doing based on its history and so forth when it really has no history?

What this all really gets back to is we are playing a game without many rules. That means things are going to be really nasty at times when someone tries to pull some completely unrealistic bullshit and starts a flame war in the comment thread, but it also means we have a lot of creativity. The loose format this game has followed I think has been one of its secrets to success.

You are generally correct, though honestly I think we don't have enough countries or lands. I wanted another continent added back when the game started, but never really pushed for it.

I suppose I could make a post along those lines, but meh. Maybe I'll just handwave it all, and then at some point I'll have a "quiet word" with Fin and that'll be that. But I'll let him respond to my earlier points first if he wants to.

I personally consider Syria/Persia to be my backyard, and that was the arrangement with Skimmer, who took Egypt. But if anyone is going to do anything with Egypt, he'd best go through me first.

I wonder if I can meet RogueIce just for a tiny bit before the CATO-MESS conference, for some personal chit chat or something.

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

So anyway total aside but I'm freakin just throwing a ton of shit up on the Wiki right now so apologies for spelling errors but I'm literally rebuilding my whole damn nation trying to rationalize out all of my contradictory posts and future planning into one gigantic freakin wiki cross-linking mountain of doom. So yeah the Navy is mostly up there (Enlisted ratings, notable historical battles, etc still to come) but that still leaves my Marine Corps, Army, Air Service, and the Royal Armed Forces all lacking even before I finish running out the history of WIlkonia and its freakin subsidiary articles (thus the reason for all the dead links, each one is a point I intend to come back to because I already have notes on it).

Um, Shroom, 8-year construction starting in 2018 would finish in 2026, not 2028. Unless I missed something?

Maybe you're the fuckup, eh? Ever think of that? Mwahahaha!

On a serious note, you're not using that Rich Text Editor bullcrap, are you? Because that would probably explain it. Wikitext ftw!

And that catamaran carrier is...well, it just is. It'd be cool if you'd announced designing it, or had some internal memo about it, awhile back. Or maybe you did and it was cleverly hidden? Same with those nuke destroyers and cruisers. But oh well.

I except many teething problems with something that is definately a new and probably radical design, though. Rather than the thing just working out of the box.

They've been on our usergroup for a while. Perhaps someone simply forgot to cross-post the things? And they're in the UCSR and Shroomanian nation profiles.

They've also sat in the UCSR profile ever since Stas posted it, which has been at least two game-years or so by now.
