Really? A Clemenceau and a bunch of FN ships about a generation and a half behind AEGIS is the "Best you could come up with"?
Man, we could take 'em all out with 4 B-1Es, and there wouldn't be a Goddamn thing you could do to stop us

Ditto. I used to, but then I realized that it was more work than it was worth. And then you get stuff like this, and the earlier Pollux thing where if you went by the pictures, they levelled the city, even though that wasn't the intent.

There was nothing in that sentence post that is scary.

1. Why the fuck would I "get back" at you IC for something OOC?
2. I probably could get away with it--until the entire MESS nuked Miratia into a uniformly distributed layer of smouldering ashes, that is.
On a more relevant note, Siege, if you're flying what I think you are, you're going to be back in Frequesue before I am, so if you want to have a meet over that sample flight, you should loiter in Indhopal for a bit first.

Honestly we probably wouldn't bother even sending a single bomber. Find it condescending if you will but I don't think any of us would risk the chance that you might actually scratch the paint on our planes fuselage. In other words we wouldn't bother because you aren't a threat.
Which isn't to say that I don't have plans in the drawer for a full blown invasion and conquest of Miratia just that I don't plan on using them

Well, the Clem can carry modern VTOL fighters, for what it's worth.
Also, the Navy shouldn't necessarily be top line modern. Clem class carriers are still in service around the world (Sao Paulo for example). Maybe Crossroadia doesn't bother itself with the construction of supercarriers, which could be explainable.

Hell for almost all non-Imperium nations it would make sense. Limited run carrier construction is hugely expensive and time consuming so having a generation old variant is probably preferable if one doesn't want to spend half their defense budget. Even today there aren't exactly a plethora of supercarriers out there, our world is actually grossly over-represented with them.

*sobs* But oi dont even know what a "Clem" class carrier is. All I have of my Navy is a list bassed off my GDP and the points I got for my sized nation... Ive been trying to find people to help me find out just WHAT I should have. So far Ticonderoga missile cruisers are the only class of ship I have pegged down,.
Thats all Ive put so far, liek I said ive tried to flesh it out, but so far the only good "catalog" of ships is by Stas Bush and I dont know if I can "buy" any of those. I have shipyards, Big ones, I can make my own ships, I should have a history of updating and overhauling ships.

Dude much as you might love it maintaining a super carrier capable yard would be nigh on impossible even for a tsardom unless they were a member of alliance and its designated builder. Even then it would be questionable. Carrier construction is one thing on which I've been a bit dickish in this game but I do want to reinforce that it is probably the most dificult naval engineering challenge out there to the point that our modern world does not really have but a few yards capable of doing so and a few more where hundreds of millions would have to be spent to give them that capacity (hundreds of millions which in turn woudl be a lost investment after a few years when the building stops).

No worry. Clemenceau class. Currently serving example: Sao Paulo, pretty pristine condition by the looks of the hull if you ask me. You can have one large carrier and a few Clem class.

Well CR isn't exactly an Imperium, isn't he? And Crossroadia could've been either the source of the Clem class design, or it could have bought the design (or even the carrier itself) from someone. Clem class as of Sao Paulo upgrade is pretty viable even in the modern day.

Nonsense. UK could build 2 65,000 tonne carriers and the only thing stopping them from building nuclear and bigger carriers was their preoccupation with cutting funds for the military and funding inane inefficiencies. And the UK has a 2.6 trillion GDP.

Well, to be fair, the UK wanted to build 2 x 55 ton carriers, and faced severe pressure from the budget commitees not to do it. Nonetheless, it's kinda strange to think that a nation with a UK or France-like GDP could not build a couple of 40 to 60 K ton carriers. France built 2x Clem class with over 30 K ton displacement for each without major issues, and it also had a helicopter carrier. If we go by the France model, Crossroadia could also field one or two (depending on it's militarism) nuclear carriers of the De Gaulle class. France initially planned making two of them, IIRC.
If we go by the UK model, Crossroadia could have 2x CVA-01 and some modernized or new-built smaller carriers and helicarriers.

Well, the Sovereignty has three Nimitz-classes. But then again, maybe in the past we were complete assholes and used our FUN-assets (and colonials!) to fund our runaway defense budget!
We also had a "historic" Cold War with the Crimsons in the past, supposedly.

The UK always faces pressure to cut just about anything. They would be lucky to even have a single ship operating in 20 years time. These days their ability to even maintain their welfare state is a joke, even more so by their reluctance to do substantial required finanical reform.

Crossroadia as an island and capitalism/trade oriented nation would be somewhat pressed too, I would believe. In any case, I don't see the reason for all the glee about a Clemenceau or two of them in Crossroad's Navy.
It's large enough to operate STOVL like F-35 or Yak-141, at least, at best fixed-wing light 5th gen like MiG-LFI. The strength of the carrier is it's deck, not it's obsolete systems or something. The escorts and flight wing should be modern. That's why modernized WWII and post-war carriers can be operating for so long. The airwing can be upgraded and replaced as time goes.
Hell, in this world the UCSR probably operated a Clem-like carrier or two (Pr.85 class)...

There is an important "past tense" choice of words there.
But I just saw how big Corssroads is making his navy, which is going to do wonders for the Navy-boosters in the OD

The French phased Clem class out when the De Gaulle arrived. Crossroadia might have not been so fortunate, or it might have bought a SLEP-overhauled Clem class from San Dorado. Brazil still operates the Clem class.
With modern fighters, the Clem class can be a deadly weapon. It's 260 m deck is enough to operate MiG-29K for example.
