Reports of Ethnic Cleansing in Sargonia

Evidence has been recovered by Byzantium troops that forces of The Zagor Empire have been conducting ethnic cleansing of the Sargonian people, apparently mass graves have been found. The USSR has assured the public that those responsible will be brought to justice and punished. The president of the USSR made a brief speech a few moments ago.

"This is an outrage. The Zagor Empire will be crushed and those responsible brought to justice and executed for their crimes.", The President said and left the room clearly angry and very upset.

His Grace's Household released a statement early last evening, informing the BNS that plans continue to host His Majesty King Brandon of the Vineyards next month. The state visit, which will occur over National Day weekend, is set to be marked by celebration even more elaborate than usual for the holiday. The BDN has been unable to determine what these celebration might consist of, but several railroad cars full of boxes marked "This End Up" and "Handle With Care - Explosive" were observed being offloaded at the Fortress rail spur.

Shadow Command to all Shadow Flights, begin Operation "Retribution", expect assistance from the Byzantium Air Force.

As the order arrived, the Tu-160's and Su-24's complied. The Zagors would soon have the very sky crashing down upon them.

What little Air Force The Zagor Empire had was destroyed on the ground, and the few planes that managed to get airborne were shot down by USSR MiG-21's.

Every major airfield and military base was attacked, the first part of the operation was complete.

Byzantine Tu-160s and Su-39s commenced a 24hr long air campaign, targeting vital military installations and obliterating all SAM systems and targeting Zargorian troops. Zargorian morale was collapsing as Legio XVIII and Legio I led the armoured spearhead into Zargoria. Enemy troops were surrendering before the superior firepower brought to bear on them. A message was sent to the Emperor of Zargoria: "Surrender, and face justice."

Location: The Zagor Empire

Hundreds of T-72 tanks and AFV's were charging across the border, destroying everything in their path. What was left of the Zagor Forces was unable to offer much of a resistance.

MLRS artillery and self-propelled 152 mm howitzer's were brought in and soon began bombarding enemy positions.

Zagor Forces now completely broken and facing the far superior USSR and Byzantium forces were surrendering en mass. What little of their forces was left, they were now in the process of fortifying in their Capital City. Emperor Marek the Cruel refused to surrender and the madman was intent on fighting to the last man.

The siege of Marek City was about to begin.

The CSR's recklessness in entering a known war zone shows either its supreme disregard for the lives of its soldiers, or its intention to become a co-belligerent.

President Raj Ahten was watching all his dreams for Frequesue die. Two Foreign powers were now squaring off over a local Frequesquan matter. Westchester had become a puppet of Tian Xia. Bastards didn't even bother to consider asking FTO to help them, despite Indhopal and others offering to rush all available forces into the area. To top it all off, the CFR was diving head first into anarchy and the vultures were already circling.

Ridiculous last minute Diplomatic heroics might be able to salvage the situation. President Raj Ahten had to at least give it a go.

Indhopal is extremely concerned by recent events in Southern Frequesue. Indhopal would like hostilities to end immediately. We would like to know the following from your respective governments:
1.) What are your strategic goals in the region?
2.) For the People's Republic of Southern Frequesue, why did you declare war?
3.) To the Crimson Star Republic and Tian Xia, what can the FTO do to reassure you that your presence is not necessary in the region?

He didn't tell them that the alert had Indhopal making preparations such as laying mines in channels off Indhopal, dispersing Several Squadrons of Fighters to operate from roadways in case of the loss of airbases and extensive civil defense preparations.

"The 31st will be leading the pack. Following them will be 8th Airlift Wing, then the rest of the strike package will filter in behind. They will be landing at three airfields on the east side of Tian Jiao. Two of the airfields are in Buckinghamshire, the third is in Oxfordshire.

While everyone's eyes were focused on the events occuring in southern Frequesue, the Revolutionary Front decided to launch a surprise attack to retake the mines held by Coilerburg and Indhopal.

Large quantities of militias, from the legendary Iron Tigers to the screaming rabble, began their attack on the mines. The sound of both side's artillery filled the area as fighting quickly intensified.

While things were going to shit back home in Frequesue, Indhopal's men on the "Lost continent" continued to do their thankless tasks. The observation mission was now made up mostly of marines and they were used to tough duty far from home. About a company strong, they also had integral helicopter and fixed wing support. The marines continued to take reports, gather evidence, and be witnesses to the brutal war that was unfolding.

Pretty much the entirety of Indhopal's Navy had sailed at maximum speed towards the southern waters of Frequesue. Aircraft from bases in Southern Indhopal also patrolled the area vigorously.

Approximately 20mi Off The Devonshire Peninsula

The Ark Royal Carrier Battle Group of the Tian Jiao Navy, some thirteen ships, steamed in stately formation toward the approaching Vigilant Carrier Strike Group of the Tian Xia Navy. Flying traditional flags of greeting to a friendly navy, they would soon join formation with their Tian Xian kin, forming Task Force Eight of the combined naval force.

Some twelve miles away, the Audacious Marine Expeditionary Group formed up, the carrier-like shape of TJS Audacious trailed by the bulky, long forms of TJS Ulysses, a Landing Ship Dock carrying eight LCU-1610-class landing craft, and two Austin-class Landing Platform Docks, each carrying a small helicopter force and the Expeditionary Fighting Vehicles to land the amtrac-mounted companies of the MEG's rifle battallions.

With the interference of the Crimson Star Republic, the naval campaign would be put on hold until a solution was devised. Nonetheless, the ships of the TJ/TX fleet in the region would carefully patrol the coasts of the besieged Tian Jiao.

Meanwhile, at three airstrips in Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire, the first squadrons of the Tian Xian Air Force began to arrive, followed by a seemingly endless stream of C-16s, C-17s, and C-130Js delivering parts, equipment, and maintenance crews. To the south, at Willington Air Force Base, was the 31st Tactical Fighter Wing, made up of two-seat F-16DJ SEAD aircraft. To the north at Rutherford and Gillard Air Force Bases were the 44th and 94th Tactical Fighter Wings, respectively flying two-seat F-15F strike planes and F-15C interceptors.

At airfields across the western half of the country were Warthog and Phantom squadrons of the Tian Jiao Air Force, flying ground-attack missions day and night. Despite the PRSF's ground successes, it seemed they were unable to accomplish much more than advances through the Gloucester and Foothills Valleys. After two weeks, Southron armor was only just now beginning to break out of the southern valley; they were still bottled up in Gloucester Valley, unable to advance past constant aerial bombardment.

The war, it seemed, wasn't going anywhere fast.

The legion was setting up a bombardment and containment formation designed to keep the enemy in, and saturate him with shells. "They don't want to lay waste to the city?" said his adjutant.

"No they don't. The Emperor himself reminded me, that however vengeful we all are, there's still the issue of holding this region and securing it. Destroying all the infrastructure simply won't do," sighed the Strategos.

"Will we be tasked with garrison duty?" asked the adjutant. The Strategos turned to him and gave him a funny look, "No we won't. They will task a fresh legion to do the job, while we return back and re-equip whatever. We are also an elite unit, and that means, we are all storm and thunder, then reassigned."

Varangian Guards in camouflaged fatiques walked stealthily through the city. Quietly dodging Marek city patrols, they were assisted greatly by the fact that most of the population had either cowered, or fled. The only reason any remained, was because Marek had ordered that any fleeing refugee will be shot on sight. One more crime to add to the list.

60,000 feet near Frequesue

Colonel Kozlowski was bored. After the long ferry flight out to Frequesue, which had entailed two mid air refuelings over the ocean he was stuck doing race-tracks at mach 2. Further missions would be flown by E-77s, which had the range to get out here on their own.

A rather odd twist of fate had left The Republic with the worlds best strategic recon bird, the B-58J Hustler. There were only a handful of fighters in service that could even approach her, and when she carried a SEAD pod, she could go almost anywhere she wanted. As it was now, she carried the Rece pod, which limited her to 4 AIM-47, and 2 SRAMs.

As Kozlowski took Xiomara, around for one last pass, his train of thought was interrupted.

"Bogey, Bearing One-Three-Two, Angles 45" was the call from from the RSO "Optical Acquisition"

"Let's take a look"

"Target firming up now"

"No IFF, profile fits with Shepistani B-56"

"Let's give them a show, continue to run silent"

"Roger"

Several minutes passed as the distance between planes dropped to about 300 feet, as Xiomara blasted past the Shepistani plane at mach 2.5 before turning for home.

The response was immediate.

Xiomara's belated response was quite simple "Better a Bear than a dirty pig!"

Secret Airstrip Somewhere in Shepistan

The Mitsubombi and North Shepistani Engineers fussed nervously over their baby; a squat silver deltawinged aircraft. Even though the design was forty years old at this point, there was much that could be done with the basic airframe. As part of continuing research into high speed flight in both countries, the Japanistani JF-21 (MiG-21) before them had been rebuilt into the Zh experimental plane, with a liquid fuelled rocket booster supplementing it's cruising turbojet.

Several hours later, after they'd completed their checks, the pilot climbed into the aircraft and was off in a howl of kerosene-scented air.

As they watched anxiously on the radar and television repeaters, the pilot took the JF-21Zh into a steep climb, and they watched as speed and altitude crept upwards, until it stood at 2,700 MPH and 131,000 feet.

At that point, the air was rent by traditional Japanistani and Shepistani cheers of Banzai! and Wark! as the engineers celebrated.

Now came the hard part of translating the JF-21Zh into the planned operational JI-104, which would have two AIM-120 class missiles behind conformal breakaway shields....

The meeting, held in a recently constructed bunker for protection against insurgent harassment, included almost all of the top divisional and special unit commanders in 1st Expeditionary Peacekeeping Army. 87,000 Japanistani soliders had now been transported into al-Akharabat, far outnumbering the foreign internationalist barbarian forces which had forced Japanistans hand by landing first. The Army also controlled, to the navies great distaste, some 20,000 men mainly of the SNLF further up the coast at No.1 Velaria Coast Guard Operating Base, located on acknowledged Japanstani soil.

General Sado Tōkairin, 1st Expeditionary Peacekeeping Army commander chaired the assembly of his officers.
“Progress on the Caravo pacification?”

“Significant,” replied the commander of 29th Infantry Division. “Most armed resistance has been eradicated, and a large portion of the population has accepted Japanistani autonomy terms. We now control virtually the entire opium supply in the country and over fifty tons of hidden caches have been captured.”
This last note brought a particular smile to Tōkairins face, the gold mine at No.1 Velaria had petered out after heavy machinery tore apart the hillsides, but opium was potentially just as lucrative. Japanistani already sold most of the worlds legal opiates, a long with a large portion of the illegal supply smuggled by submarine and aircraft, now its market share could rise as high as 90% as the western barbarians dealers were starved by supply interruptions and sought out new sources.

“Progress on recruitment of local militas?” asked Tōkairin.

This time a Colonel of the Special Missions Raiding Force answered. “We have made contact and demonstrations of force with several tribal factions unhappy with neither of the worthwhile hollow shells called governments in the north and south this. One of them, the Zunpuntra, straddle the eastern boarder of al-Akharabat and our former colony, they have proven very enthusiastic to the return of our rule. We have begun arming and forming Zunpuntra militia battalions already. They will greatly expend our ability to occupy territory while providing a pretext for Japanistani military aid as being a local self defence force.”

“The railway,” Tōkairin was more attentive now, the railway was an expensive project that was key to Japanistani plans and to reduce the cost of occupation and mining once completed. Everything else was but a detail along the way to its completion.

“In realistic terms,” said a general of the engineers, “progress is excellent at twenty one kilometers completed, given the New Sumatran penal battalions I have been supplied with instead of more bulldozers. But twenty thousand penal workers isn’t nearly enough, and I lack the security personal to guard a larger New Sumatran work gangs.”

“Then recruit more local labor” said Tōkairin. “I have also arranged for the SAP to convert a significant portion of our newly found opium into hard currency, the profit from which will be used to buy more heavy machinery for the railroad.”

“It will help” replied the engineer “but until security improves few local barbarians are willing to aid us and attacks will continue ti disrupt work.”

“Intensify aerial spraying in a belt around the worksites,” ordered Tōkairin. “also,” he said turning to an aid “alert the Army High Command that in view of the new war distracting much of the world on Frequesque, I believe that the second stage operation schedule should be accelerated, and both convoys sail within 72 hours.
