With modern fighters, the Clem class can be a deadly weapon. It's 260 m deck is enough to operate MiG-29K for example.
Hey, if we're running with Clems for Crossroadia, I ain't arguing.

I'm just sick of everyone and his dog throwing around 100 ton carriers, almost all the time the "Nimitz" design, as if they were toys poofed out of nowhere, putting no thought into the development tree (project heritage and such). Moreover, this world does reflect IRL in some ways, so that Clem designs, CVA-01 and other smaller carriers do have logical foundations to stand on. Smaller nations shouldn't throw Nimitzes around.

Moreover, building a capable group with small carriers is quite a task in itself and nations which do it well can be rewarded. Even a single small carrier, but with a modern airgroup, is a serious argument.

Wilkens is correct in that naval power takes time to build up, and most of us put thought into the designs and the tech tree (at least me, Pezook, Langley and Siege).

Having some refreshing wind and realistic navies compared to "HEY I'M CZECHMATE AND HERE'S MY KITTY HAWK 350M MONSTER!!!" is good. And Czech, don't take that as an insult, this has been the problem of many players (including Baerne, for example).

Fun Fact, wwwaaaaaayyyyy back in the "Post the history of your country here!" thread, I alluded to the "Joint MESS CVN program" in the early '70s, which is what I've intrepeted as the design basis for modern Nimitz-family CVNs. :P
Wilkens is correct in that naval power takes time to build up, and most of us put thought into the designs and the tech tree (at least me, Pezook, Langley and Siege).
Hey man, the construction pace of the ODN has been by far the slowest of the MESS countries, and maybe slower than most other countries as well. Not a single STAR DDGN(besides the two purchased second hand) has entered comission, for example, and I do crazy shit like "One of my two CVNs is going into the yards for 18 months for a life extension program" and explicitly mention that it will not be availible for operations.

How many other people here can say that?

I didn't actually put much thought into my navy, to be honest.

It went something like this:

"I don't need to project power ; My navy needs to defend the Med and occasionally engage in some relief mission or embassy evacuation. So it needs, at most, helicarriers."

Then I decided to form two Wasp groups and have plenty of SSKs and mid-sized patrol boats.

I never thought where the Wasps would come from, though presumably they were bought from a producer like Wilkonia. Same goes for the upcoming Colosus carriers, which I will buy from Byzantium.

That would have worked if not for one thing: Carrier groups do not to approach within 1000km of the coast to launch cruise missile strikes. The US Navy strategy in the 70-80s was to force the Soviet Navy and Air Force into a battle far away from its shores and launch attacks 2500km away.

That's pretty much why the Soviet Navy itself, and the Russian Navy, saw need for carriers to protect its sub groups and to bring the battle to th enemy. Your navy and navy is too awefully short ranged for that sort of thing and thus at best good for rear side action.

It makes me wonder where Shroomania got its Nimitz carriers from. Joint partnership with Byzantium? Joining in on the MESS carrier program?

EDIT:

Byzantium has always been about self-sufficiency in making its military kickass. Perhaps Shroomania could've tagged along in jointly making badass weapons systems on a regional scale.

Do I actually have XM29 OICWs and H&K G36s now because the soldiers in a few pictures I posted had them? No, because, while I have something similar to an OICW, it has an integrated PDW rather than a full-blown assault rifle, to cut down on weight, and the ammunition is proximity fuzed rather than airbursting (or whatever you'd call that shit.) And while my rifles bear a superficial resemblance to G36s, they're a totally different calibre.

Shady's BnL headquarters is so totally the Combine Citadel from Half Life 2.

Hell, those Combine Civil Protection and Overwatch troops could be BnL's rent-a-cops decked out in standard menacing Zorian gear.

Well it is a little late for that now.. Since Stas posted I guess I'm stuck with the clems weather I want them or not. The Irony is I have planned to reposition Crossroadia as a considerable Naval power. What with being right in the middle of the two largest landmasses and all. Of course I can't complain, his post at least gives me a SHRED of legitimacy as far as my carriers go.. I guess I am going to have to go out of my way constantly saying I am updating these ships.

But yeah, this all boils down to me picking a picture, because it "looked" good, and not having anyidea how old the ships in it were... But oh well...

Hey man, what did you expect it to DO?Its an Arcology, a City in a building, designed for sustainability and stuff, it houses 50,000 residence and 100,000 workers.. And the new government buildings, what more you want :P

But you are right on the shipping stuff, after all the funeral stuff is worn off I am going to be holding a massive World gathering for industrial leaders and we can work out new shipping lanes and trade deals.

I don't trust anything your deranged little mind posts as an image, especially considering your bobbleheaded "armored security" guards you decided to bring to a fucking funeral.

As for the throwaway picture, it wasn't just the Clem(which, as Stas has pointed out, is still in service in Brasil), it was the escorts that made me chuckle. I came to the conclusion that said carrier must be of a similar vintage.

Now go run along and create another super choppa with 155mm cannon that is also ASW-capable that you need as a landlocked country because of a river. :D

1. The Supreme Leader's body guard (stupidly) doesn't take orders from the Supreme Leader as anything more than suggestions.
2. They are to protect him at all costs, regardless of his protestations regarding "public image" and "absurdity".
3. Ryan's using this most recent incident as an excuse to can the lot of them and get a real SS that understands the meanings of the words "subtle" and "inconspicuous".
As for the throwaway picture, it wasn't just the Clem(which, as Stas has pointed out, is still in service in Brasil), it was the escorts that made me chuckle. I came to the conclusion that said carrier must be of a similar vintage.
Obviously this would be disadvantageous to the player in question, would it not? So you could, y'know, ask him if that's really what he meant it to be, and if not, suggest something else.

1. It's a roleplay, you idiot, and an open-ended one at that. Not some goddamned wargame.
2. If that's not what he intended, don't fucking try to pretend it was. The only exception I can think of to this is if they're doing something totally unreasonable and refuse to retcon it. Sort of like what I did with Beowulf in the Costas.

OK now that that is out of my system... We dont want to get too crazy with how big we make a Zep, Ive been sticking with pretty reasonable sizes, so far my largest model is purely for Cargo shipping containers. That said I would still be up to working on something with you, Ill work up a reasonable post in a bit.
