40K Dark Heresy: The Recondite War
Darien starts down the stairs, taking aim with his shotgun at the pile of guards at the foot of the staircase. Eyeing the two guards for a moment, he decides that from the tone of Ajax's voice stopping to deal with prisoners was contraindicated.
Decision made, he opens fire on the two men, aiming for the uppermost -- or mostly uppermost -- guard on the pile first.

Eli reloads the Shotgun and holds his fire whilst the hiver charges in, it wouldn't look right to shoot a fellow witchhunter in the back, and Eli wasn't very good with fighting hand to hand.

Bah, damn fool just charging in like that. Mithras followed behind Scar, jumping over the bodies Eli had finished off, still scanning for any hidden heretic that might attempt to ambush them.
'Ai! ai!' wailed Legolas. 'A Balrog! A Balrog is come!'
Gimli stared with wide eyes. 'Durin's Bane!' he cried, and letting his axe fall he covered his face.
'A Balrog,' muttered Gandalf. 'Now I understand.' He faltered and leaned heavily on his staff. 'What an evil fortune! And I am already weary.'

Ajax tails the frantic charge downstairs, pausing only to stab at one of the still-living guards with the rapier in his hand as he moves past.

Crom charged at the remaining enemy, slashing at him with a knife, missing, his weapon deflecting a hasty effort to counterattack by the guard, who swiped in a vague effort to pistol-whip him. Eli, meanwhile, had a chance to reload.
Darien’s shot stilled the body on top, which, just for good measure, was punctured as Ajax stabbed at the one underneath him, to no effect, other than slicing through the body on top, and taking a small chip out of the stone.
As Scar and Mithras ran around the corner, four more guards could be seen, taking aim at the witch-hunters…

With an obliging gurgle, the unfortunate pinned guard expired as more injury was inflicted upon his body.

The short corridor was soon awash with the sound of battle as three guards opened fire; hopelessly, firing almost wildly, as if bewitched. They didn’t seem to hear Scar’s threatening words, simply firing at the door repeatedly, and missing. They too had been blinded by the grenade. Scar’s blade cut one, across the chest, biting to the bone, slicing deep across two ribs, chewing them up and sending bone fragments across the floor. Despite this, the guard remained standing, not even screaming in his excruciation. Meanwhile, Darien could feel the hairs on the back of his neck stand, an uncomfortable, tingling sensation.
Crom ducked, and the enemy moved to strike him with the pistol, missing, and staggering, caught almost simultaneously by two shotgun blasts and a hand-cannon blast, that sent him falling backwards, blood spraying outwards as he expired.

Mithras fired on one of the guards, the lasbolt impacting him in the head, burning through to the skull along one side of the heretic’s head. Meanwhile, Crom’s offhanded gunshot just about impacted its target, netly trimming off a finger from the dead man’s hand.

Sorting through the chaos of battle is difficult enough. Sorting through the chaos of battle AND the chaos of conflicting, overlapping visions of the battleground is another thing entirely, and it's distracted Ajax long enough. With a low growl he stalks forewards, pain shared from the other psyker transmuting into anger, and the need to stab the shit out of the first guard that comes within a sword's length.

Mithras shifted his aim slightly, dropping to one knee, and sprayed the remaining cultists with his lasgun. The foul scent and sense of wrongness in the room threatened to distract him, but he shook it off with no visible effort.
Meanwhile Scar appeared to be enjoying himself immensely. Having severely wounded his opponent (I'm assuming I didn't kill him), he brought his chainsword around and down in a brutal overhand chop, attempting to finish his foe in one quick stroke. His nostrils flared with the effort of the swing and he roared ferociously.

Not seeing anything behind him, Darien turns and rushes towards the fighting, shotgun pointed at the ceiling to avoid any accidental discharges while he looks for a clear shot at the target.
Pausing for a moment, he yells a warning, "Something's trying to use psyker tricks on us, I think!" then continues looking for someone to shoot.

Reloading a second time, Eli checks the other door in the room, and afterwards checks the second floor hallway for more Heretics.
looking over at Crom, he suggests that his fellow "Witchhunter" should ask the tech priest to offer a benediction to apease his troubled pistol's spirit.

‘Stab the shit out of’ the guard opposite him is precisely what Ajax does, the point of his sword puncturing the enemy’s hips, right above the groin, and slicing through the back of his hips, cutting bone like butter suction from the wound briefly keeping the blade inside the enemy’s body as he… stood in silence and tried to ineffectually bring his gun to bear, quite calmly, as though unaware of the flood of blood flowing down his legs.
Mithras fired a semi-automatic burst from his lasgun, the first shot blasting a guard right between the eyes, bursting his head into pieces and vapour, leaving nothing above the neck as the victim fell. Another las-bolt hit the other guard not engaged in hand-to-hand struggle with Scar or Ajax. Meanwhile, Scar clubbed the guard down with the chainsword, which roared and wedged itself in a wide barrel of some alcoholic beverage, chewing up the wood and sending it out across the floor as a shower of splinters, accompanied by a torrent of fine wine. If the guard whom he’d struck with the weapon before was further injured than the bleeding cut on his chest, it didn’t show.
Mercurius narrowly missed the guard whom Mithras had just shot and wounded.
Upstairs, meanwhile, Eli kicked in the nearest bedroom door, revealing a man and a woman in the small room beyond. The man dressed in nothing but a pair of breeches, the woman in less. He had dark hair, shortly cut, and was adjusting an ornate gold wig interlaced with glowing silver patterns. “What is the meaning of all this! Who are you!” he demanded; the upstairs, as the group had probably surmised before, was soundproofed against noise from downstairs and from outside the building, and as such, he was blissfully ignorant of precisely whom Eli was, “If you’re robbers, you’ve picked on the wrong establishment,” he added, with a smug look of aristocratic disdain.
Meanwhile, the man tied down was apparently having a moment of relative lucidity, and as he bit down on his lower lip and struggled, Crom had a strange sense of having seen him somewhere before. “It’s coming! Kill me before it comes!” he said abrupty, “Shoot me! I’m a heretic!”

Do not fight the edge, use the edge Ajax's old instructor echoes in his ear as he struggles to free his sword. With a tight smile, he inscribes a vicious V-stab, pushing in and along the edge of the cut, then back out again while holding the pressure up, trying to use the very cutting power of the monobonded rapier to free it from the stomach of the freakishly-silent heretic.
