New map uploaded

Changelog:

- Latest version of the Fourth Continent added

- USSR now has a coastline, and gained a tiny bit of territorry. Note to Stas: borders of the Red Star Republic have changed a bit

- Changed Khitan's color so that it stands out from Shroomania more

- New Continent added: changed some colors, otherwise exactly like the posted map. Labels are coming.

- Shroomania is now oriented like in the last game. The Shroomish Channel is about 50 kilometers wide.

- Technocracy is now Red Star Republic

Planned for next version:

- Migration of all labels to a new font

- Adding of labels to Fourth Continent and New Continent

- Adding Japanistan, Zoria, Frequesque and perhaps a couple island nations. Post your maps, people!

Special thanks to Skimmer and Rogue for PMing me their maps. Makes work much easier :D

It's "Crimson Star Republic" but chalk that up to translation differences - in Russian and all slavic languages of course it's "Red".

Note: a pixel font will make it easier to work with maps.

Note 2: minor corrections to my borders aren't too much of an issue for now, I'll deal with it when I have time.

I keep the map huge so that I can gauge the distances properly. But I've resized the JPG :D

Reload the map - it should be much more friendly now.

I've also enlarged Shroomania a bit, it should be about the size of the UK now.

Stas: Oh! Right. I can change it to "Crimson" without a problem :D

Also, Could you e-mail me that font? Pretty please? :D

Shroomania is so cute and adorable :D

What's in the... Yellow Place?

Hrm... I always thought PeZookia would be across the Shroomish channel. I wonder what our dynamic with Canissia is gonna be. Then again, we've always been Super Best Friends with Coyote, so it's cool!

Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and a few other I might've grabbed.

Well, I had to fit Khitan in there somewhere :D

I had to do a lot of alterations to make our histories work somewhat...man, was it a headache.

Well, that's about what I can do with the map today. Tomorrow, the Old Continent is getting the 500-million man horde as a neighbor.

The Abbassad Caliphate and the Egyptian Caliphate occupy the yellow areas. Borders are rather fluid, and I'm the only reason why none of them have gone to war.

Since I threatened to destroy the oil fields in Arabia that is.

Damn!

You could connect Japanistan to the Old Continent by way of our "Middle Yellow East"... maybe put some other "land" between the Yellow Zone and Japanistan, to make the transition smoother.

I guess we'll have to wait for when all the islands and continents are accounted for to finalize things.

That's exactly what's gonna happen. It will also give a reason for the Suez Canal to exist, since right now it's kinda pointless, but with Japanistan forming the edge of our Mediterrenean, it could save quite a bit of time.

Zook; you may want to space the continents out by more than just a mere 1,000 km. Otherwise my B-56A Swarm can hit any point on SDN World Mk II and return home without refuelling.

Plus, it opens up room for naval manouvering.

You and your stupid strategic weapon systems...

I can double the distances, but not much more without crapping out my PC. It should be enough.

It would have been built anyway. I don't like my ships making such a big round just to get somewhere.

I was wondering if Stas was interested in another canal cutting across his country, but he didn't say anything. :?

Nuclear weapons are banned by the new game rules, aren't they?

Where and why? Making a huge canal without nuclear explosions is very costly. I need reasons to do it. Economic ones primarily.

Let the game follow it's way a bit - determine the economic patterns...

No one said explicitly, but Shep definitely compiled a list of chemical and biological agents he plans to stockpile.

For one thing, the Suez canal is located near unstable powers. In the event of some possible war where the Egyptian caliphate chooses to, despite my warnings, to ally with hostile powers, ships will then be forced to go a long way round instead to go east.

On the other hand, I recall there are several rivers and lakes in Russia, and theoretically, just as the US linked a number of rivers via canals (which is why Seattle has a port), we could widen several rivers and lakes and then allow ships to get out to the East via another way.

Unless of course, you don't plan to have a Black Sea fleet.

Note to all Frequesuan players: If I've missed anyone in my invitation, feel free to show up anyway. The meeting called is open to all player-run nations on the continent.

PS: I'll be on vacation from tomorrow 'till friday next week, so I probably won't be posting for that time, but you guys can begin the conference anyway and I'll catch up later.

Here, have another one

Continents are now around 3000 kms apart. Frequesque will be in the center, south of the Old Cotinent.

Japanistan is the big brown stain attached to the Caliphates.

The quality of the map may be a little lower than usual, because I had to lower the DPI or I'd have fried my computer :P

Holy shit, is Japanistan going to be the big problem on our continent, or is he at least going to be nice enough to do deals with us?

There are two basic possibilities:

1) Skimmer decides he has to destroy the FUN before we start making cobalt bombs again, and thus the first game post he makes is about unleashing the Human Wave on the Old Continent.

2) We enter a somewhat strained and nervous, but generally peaceful relationship.

I would certainly hope for the latter, otherwise, Shroom (yes, you better come), me and Stas are going to park forces not too far off just in case we enter into a conflict.

Or can we at least keep the conflict civil? Meaning at least no nukes, no chemical, no biowarfare.
