Did Shepistan and the Old Dominion choose their countries to have vast open spaces? Their continent (nominally two Tsardoms and some NPCs) is about as big as our four Imperium continent (me, Wikens, Beo and Phong).

I wish to inform you all that I plan to build the flying "Airships of Doom Tm" with which I shall bombard the Super Checneyas .

So who exactly is in on the Space thing? Just us FUN dudes and Fingolfin or will the MESS help out?

Skimmer said before he claims airspace up to 30 000 kms over Japanistan, but that he's willing to share it in the interest of science, so I think we can negotiate permissions for overflight of Selene missions.
Good Lord, that's saying no satellite is allowed to fly above him.

I don't know ; I'll adjust the scale once we finally decide where the hell they're going to be :P

I know Skimmer did, hence why Japanistan is a lot bigger than 1 million sq. kms, but a lot of it is undeveloped or just plain useless.

As far as I'm concerned, we can say that much of what were working towards before is carried on here... Canissian robotics to the fore, and I'll again be submitting my idea for the Eagle Transporter for inter-lunar/inter-system travel.

Shepistan and Old Dominion could be, like, as big as South American nations. They can have an Amazon Jungle... filled with land mines and cannibals!

We'd probably work together on some respects. Why shoulder all the costs of developing heavy lift boosters and such on our own?

But who knows? The MESS meeting we'll hold will probably answer some of these questions. We do have a much different global dynamic now, after all.

My nation would probably be interested in being in FASTA again. This time, I can put up more than just a few million dollars :D .

I also plan on making a big ass particle accelerator in my nation and want to make it an international project. There will likely be a big announcement about it once the game starts.

I guess they could be making "pre-emptive" border claims of territory that they really exert no control over whatsoever... just to make sure they get a claim in before the other side does. So much of that land is probably "theirs" only on paper.

Kinda like Brazil-- they claim much of the Amazon, but in a lot of places have only the most bare-bones prescence on the ground. Or Pakistan, where all of the northern territory is really wild tribal areas where 'rule' is by local warlord. And like Israel, where some maps show the West Bank as being Israeli but other maps show it as 'disputed'... that sort of thing.

You're assuming either one of them wants to go for that.

As to the placement, the current location is a decent one. Since we're committed (the MESS) to help support the Old Dominion, having him be rather isolated imposes a definate strategic problem for us.

Since everybody's all worried about "zomg MESS superpower!" I suppose forcing us to stretch our forces like that would be a good thing, no? :)

I probably could pump in a few billion and commit scientific and construction resources to it.

And yeah, place it somewhere outside the old Continent. Likely, we are going to be warring eventually.

I'll probably construct another on my own territory, but it'd be a linear accelerator.

If you've noticed, Skimmer is taking a different route this time, with a low-tech, high-manpower army with few lift assets that is already bogged down in a messy occupation. This tells me he's interested in exploring different dynamics.

Let's let things unfold a bit.

@ Fingolfin, on Vohu:

Damn... poor guy. Seriously, put him somewhere else. Make him an island or something. Put him in an archipelago with a bunch of other dudes, in an ocean. With Zor or something.

Well, he wanted an island purchased from me.

It's either that, or we plant the island in the Black Sea.

I have no problem with it personally, I was just commenting. I'm far better of this round irregardless.

I wouldn't worry too much about Japanistan. Sea Skimmer had a rational foreign policy last time (He was willing to engage with others on nukes and such until Shep's "execution.") and Japanistan doesn't really have that much of a modern navy, and his army has to spend a lot of its resources just occupying his current conquests. Someones got to be near him I suppose

Edit: loks like Coyote beat me to it.

Yeah, he seems pretty committed to the game in that respect.
