I do wonder if some people aren't getting themselves into worlds of potential hurt with all these far-flung colonies. Having them sure is nice, but holding on to them for any amount of time when the neighbors come knocking will be the real trick.

Spain would be quite interested in the oil and coal rich regions of Queensland, not sure I can hold the whole of Queensland but a good portion at least if no one has an objection.
EDIT: Claims in Queensland
Also, what's New Caledonia looking like? I assume it's still French.

Re: SDN World 3 Country Claiming
New updated history now that Tuscany exists:
- Instead of Wilhelm II, Friedrich III. survives his cancer due to Bismarck recommending Morell Mackenzie, who does not misdiagnose his cancer (deviation of OTL here).
- This leaves Bismarck and Friedrich III. longer in charge and prevent much of the diplomatic quagmires.
- When Wilhelm II. takes the throne after Friedrich dies in 1895, Bismarck is in a much stronger position and WIlhelm II. does not dare challenge him. Bismarck also masterfully placates the Kaiser with a token colonial policy and a more serious naval armament race, but diplomacy does much to smoothe the feelings. After all, Bismarck and the two Victorias trust each other deeply (in the OTL, only the english queen victoria did, in this TL both do due to him saving the Emperor).
- careful diplomacy prevents any sort of isolation of Germany, Bismarck dies in 1889, leaves Protege in charge
- 1914: Franz Ferdinand is assassinated in Sarajevo
- Austria goes to war. Germany hangs back, sees what happens.
- Balkan insurrection engulfes the Austrian Empire in civil war, Byzantine Empire and Italy (Kingdom of Italy) supply arms to insurrectionists. In 1915 Austria is close to fragmentation.
- End of 1915: Germany finally acts after signing a non-interference pact with Russia. German troops march into the Austrian Empire in small detachements, beating back insurrectionists. Germany is not fully committed to the fight yet.
- New Year 1915: Vienna Massacre. The Austrian Emperor along with the majority of the Austrian leadership/nobility are killed when a massive bomb destroys the concert hall of the Neujahrskonzert. The Kaiser's eldest son is killed, Wilhelm II. severely injured. The Bomb is later found to have been a collaboration of Italian design and serbian anarchists. Austria collapses.
- 1916: Germany declares war on Italy and marches into Austria.
- May 1916: German troops take Venice. July: Battle of Turin - Italian army is decisively beaten, encircled. French troops who try to intervene turn back when faced with German numerical superiority.
- August 1916: Faced with threatening Byzantine, French and Russian intervention, who try to prevent the creation of a german superstate, Germany agrees to a ceasefire.
- January 1917: Treaty of Rome with the following results:
a) Balkans gain independence (Shady, that would be your nation)
b) The Kingdom of Italy is destroyed. Germany gains northern Italy (as outlined above), though it does only claim it to prevent France and the Byzantine Empire from capitalizing on the collapse of Italy.
c) The rest of the Austrian Empire is absorbed into Germany as the children of Karl I. of Austria are not old enough. They are placed in the household of Wilhelm II.
d) The Tuscan Kingdom regains it independence from the former Kingdom of Italy. It had been annexed under the former Kingdom of Italy.
In the following years up to 1925 this happens:
- As the German Kaiser is a Protestant, he cannot lay claim to the thrones of Austria and Hungary. This leads to the bizarre solution of him being named Reichsverweser. The full title of the Kaiser will therefore be: Wilhelm II., Deutscher Kaiser, König von Preußen, Reichsverweser von Österreich und Ungarn. The situation is further confounded by the children of Karl I, who are the rightful heirs to the austrian part of the new empire and will be old enough in the 1930s to maybe claim the throne. Although the titles of the empire are not integrated, the rest of the empire is already closely integrated and it should be viewed as a single nation, though the hungarian/italian parts are not so smitten by the situation. The Chancellor is the deciding figure as the Kaiser never really recovered from the bombing and as the Reichstag is elected by the whole of the empire and not dependant on titles.
- The Tuscan kingdom becomes the unified Italian nation except for the German and Byzantine territories due to political skill.

Ok. No problem. Its hard to keep track of who has what colony (hell, some of the colonists probably aren't going to know who actually runs their country). I am still going to take the rest of Zambia just for the sake of keeping a weird grey spot off the map.

Okay, from my copy of the map the following is unclaimed:
Mongolia *snickers*
Siam/Thailand (Wow, we might actually have an NPC!)
Costa Rica
Paraguay
Suriname
French Guyana (I think Spain claimed it, or Portugal, not sure.)
Bahamas (Maybe, either British or US, not sure)
Rwanda/Burundi
Southeastern Libya.... which is a big f-ing desert anyway, so I'm not surprised.
Afghanistan, mostly because Shep doesn't want it.
The Nejd. The Saudi interior, almost all desert thanks to the part Siege claimed.
Switzerland.
If I've missed claims please simply calmly inform me, I don't want to hear "YOU MISSED MY CLAIM" or grief regarding that.

Re: SDN World 3 Country Claiming
There is actually a long history of mildly separated parts of Angola by the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The exclave of Cabinda has been separate since the drawing of boundaries in 1885 but is actually a part of Angola home territory. I don't think its a real problem given that the section consists of literally nothing but jungle. That's why Marius didn't claim it. If Setzer wants it he can have it. It is simply land with no real value at all.

Melbourne is in my Australian claim and would be one of two key ports, but I would be willing to permit Britain special trading and port privileges.
Actually, how about this?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Great ... y_2008.png
Where would you like a British treaty port on Port Phillip? Geelong, for instance, is the 6th largest port in Australia today. Said territory would be British in sovereignty and ownership, like Hong Kong. If you want the city of Melbourne itself, well, I'd like to discuss further terms with you, as it may be my largest port in Australia (can't find data on Adelaide's suitability) and is the logical eastern hub for my Australian holdings' transportation system.
Also, I saw Karmic's Aussie claim, as well as that of Pigeonry and Beo, but who had Western Australia again and how much?
