Okay, so far I've had Karmic ask me to put an Anglian protectorate-colony near his space, Rogue and Klavo have signed off on one near them and the Argenti, and Beowulf has agreed to Shroom's idea of one near Tianguo, though he insisted on the name "Macau" over "Hong Kong". Also think there'll be one near the Sassanids to supplement the upcoming story I'm doing with Thanas.
That leaves the question of who else is open to having your very own Anglian outpost nearby that you can use to facilitate interaction with me, whether it be trade, diplomacy, politics, or trying to pull an Argentina on me.

Chamarrans are willing. Dunno what we'll use it for yet but i suppose it could be useful later down the line for storyness.

Been spotted, and is faced with a significantly adverse force correlation. Hasn't been scuttled yet though. Just had all the classified info destroyed. Now, if a capture attempt is actually made, the small craft will get scuttled. Also, the equipment is (by design) low value enough that destruction of it will not pose a significant problem.Simon_Jester wrote:Tianguonese are being paranoid as hell and placing extremely low value on their own lives for the simple and obvious reason that they remembered to save their game.
What bugs me is that they're placing such low value on their equipment: the mere fact that one of their probeships has been spotted is enough for them to scuttle the thing.

I will repeat my offer. There could be a small protectorate in Wild Space that ran to the Anglians when Collectors showed up. It seemed like good idea at the time, preserving them from K-Zone power plays and granting security from this strange new foe!

I think this is a good moment to end the C-6 storyline on a high note. If anyone else wants to come and make contact, just assume that you were redirected to our diplomatic station. If you were around and want to do an epilogue thingy you're of course welcome to do it (and I will do our own reactions to it shortly).

Was considering it. My general idea is a string of two or three along the "north" end of the map the the one Karmic asked me to have, and a second string of ones along the "south end" of the map.Force Lord wrote:How about a colony/protectorate near the Centrality?Steve wrote:Okay, so far I've had Karmic ask me to put an Anglian protectorate-colony near his space, Rogue and Klavo have signed off on one near them and the Argenti, and Beowulf has agreed to Shroom's idea of one near Tianguo, though he insisted on the name "Macau" over "Hong Kong". If there is another Anglian colony near the Centrality, I'd prefer that it was on the right side of it, near Ranoidea. With the one next to the Knights, I (and the Central Alliance) are almost entirely boxed in as it is, as there is only one blank space (G8) that we can use to access the galaxy at large.

I hope the Anglian colony near the Sassanids aren't also too near Bragule. Bragule's neighbors are already interesting enough as it is.

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread V
Logical place to put it would be BB-30 or so, with the full might of the Persian Empire (and a band of shoals) between you and them.
That said, it's worth remembering that the existence of one X-occupied star system in a sector does not mean that the entire sector is X-controlled, X-claimed, or X-patrolled. Given the placement of the Anglian colonies, they'd risk antagonizing a lot of nations by asserting a right to patrol the surrounding sector and stop neutral shipping.
This is a very valid concern, and I think fgalkin's request is perfectly fair.fgalkin wrote:If there is another Anglian colony near the Centrality, I'd prefer that it was on the right side of it, near Ranoidea. True, but on the other hand, they WOULD be in position to intercept shipping, especially if we're sending a fleet of warships through their sector.

Um FL you are not listed as a recipient on any of the messages concerning MEH as far as I can tell. Rogue listed, Steve, Simon, Beowulf, Fin, Klavo, Ryan, Shinn and myself as recipients. Hiigara has sent notes to the other recipients of Rogue's message, but nothing to anyone else about it. You'll understand if I'm a little confused as to your latest diplomatic note.

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread V
Ah, well us finding out about a secret high level meeting between your leadership and "her" would be quite a security breach wouldn't it? Also in my opinion its a little discourteous to simply assume that another nation found out about something you did and sent messages asking about it. Personally I would've have preferred that you PM'd me about it so I could've either given you reasons for not caring, or have written up a quick note asking you why you met with "her". Don't know how anyone else feels about it, but that's my stance.

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread V
Well, the MEH did say to the Interstellar Union about the visit to the Centrality:
Bolded relevant part. Even then that was before CN decided to send his Leader instead. I assumed that, since the MEH's messages had been intercepted before, the one about the MEH Leader's visit had been intercepted as well, and so the worried parties knew what was going to happen. Now that I think about it, I realized that I've probably rushed my posts before thinking about the larger picture. It seems I have some editing to do.Chaotic Neutral wrote:To:Emorroth Kelechtia, Representative of Nova MiratiaRyan Thunder wrote: Hello, there!

Thanks for noticing us! We're new on the block, and would like to be allies with the other empire near the Orks.
Maybe set up a galactic purge of the Ork worlds, maybe just have a base of operations or shared defenses in your territory and ours. We will send an ambassador.
Additionally, since we were looking to run some experiments on/take the DNA of a few hundred psychers/espers/magicians/ect..., and we have a fleet going to The Centrality to pick up some cargo, we would like to know:
Do you have any sentenced to death, imprisoned as enemies of the state, or held to a low regard that you would sell to us?
Please respond before our ambassadors and transports get to The Centrality, you know how expensive time is.

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread V
Well, for me I likely would only look into it with discrete inquiries at best, rather than through public comm channels. As doing the latter would tend to imply I have more of an interest in the MEH than is currently the case, at least so far as the public at large is aware.Force Lord wrote:Bolded relevant part. Something like our embassy staff asking whatever contacts they have in your government about it, on the QT.

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread V
I stopped "intercepting" CNs posts after those first two, IC reason improved security on his encryptions or something like that. OOC reason I just stopped giving a fuck about his "diplomacy".
I wouldn't say its a problem of not looking at the bigger picture, more a problem of assuming. Makes an ass out of you and me after all.

Re: SDN Worlds 4 Commentary Thread V
Maybe rather than have them directly ask you what you're doing with MEH, simply have your SIGINT analysts note an increase in message traffic. HUMINT can find out that several nations have had Warp Gate connections with Shinra, something that isn't usual. Things like that, then they can try and figure out what all the activity means, and paranoid as they are they start to worry that someone has noticed them talking to MEH. Of course the first rule is don't admit anything so rather than mentioning they've been talking to MEH they innocently ask "hey we've noticed a lot of activity recently, whats up?".
Doing that gives us a chance to decide whether or not we should respond and if we do how much we're willing to tell you. Yet we're not forced into anything by fiat acompli.
