I didn't originally intend to participate in a cooperative manner (figured the Union government'd be sour on helping 'fascists'), but I could toss in some ships that came to investigate the supposed pirates independently (a lot of the Union navy is unblooded or lightly-blooded; problem with civil wars is they tend to decimate militaries). I was thinking a cruiser squadron or two. That okay?

One would think that the surviving veterans of the civil war would have mixed into the postwar military, though; historically, very few nations that have suffered through a civil war had any problem finding veteran officers afterwards.

Highly capable officers, possibly, but not veterans in general.

Think of it as Pulp Fiction-style sequence of events.
The thing is she's not even in Maynilad when that scene happens, she's in Puerta Gabriela, which is a good distance away from Maynilad.

Anyway, you could just cut reference to the specific boy in my post and have it where the kids approached her before she left Maynilad.

Certainly, yes, but the Progressive Civil War was brutal enough that even the victorious side was not much more than tatters by the end of the conflict. Pacification and purges that came during "peace" exacted their own blood price, too, and the civil war was the better part of a century ago (though mere old age means less with advanced medicine and posthumanist technology besides).

I don't want to give the impression that the Union Navy's nothing but greenhorns, but rapid rebuilding means that there's a whole lot of folks that could use the experience of live combat when they can get it.

Which brings me to a question - assuming you guys don't mind - how do I jump in? This RP's handled a bit differently than the earlier STGODs, and I'd like to minimize others' time wasted/frustration as I get involved. (As for instant messengers, I rely almost totally on mIRC, but I can crack out whatever everyone's using, too.)

One way is to write internal storylines. Another is to find some event your nation can join in and write a "part" for it: that's what I did with Bannerman, which I feel was really my debut as a serious participant. The third is to collaborate; find someone and come up with a joint storyline. I'm pretty well swamped, but there are plenty of others who would probably be happy for something to do.

I never mentioned that it happened in Maynilad. It happened somewhere in Luz, which could've very well been Puerta Gabriela. My post mentioned that they "began stuffing the dead fishies into their beltbags and the broken corals too - which could be sold to the rich people in Maynilad as paperweights or as decorations for their aquariums", but fishermen and farmers often have to take long trips, bringing their produces to the city to sell 'em as vendors. I think the wives do this. After their husbands catch the fish, they have to take long rides to Maynilad where they sell their stuff.

In the Feelipeenis, they would have great chances of getting harassed by bandits or government thugs - who're both as likely to ransack their stuff. If they don't make it on time, or if they're caught at night, then they're jailed for breaking the curfew!

Do it? Keldrog, I'm not a Bragulan Serial villain. Do you seriously think I'd explain my master-stroke if there remained the slightest chance of you affecting its outcome? I did it thirty-five minutes ago.

There wasn't any other intelligent looking bear picture I could think/find. Shroom suggested I take it anyway.

Huh...won't R'Nish drones run into standard security protocols? After all, it would be trivial for a terrorist to rig up a floating bomb in our setting ; There's bound to be measures designed to prevent that.

That's why I've kept them at a distance for now. I'm awaiting Shinn's reply to my PM so I can hash out some of the details.

Yeah, no problem, though there's pirates in the Expanse too, so I suggest you make your main effort there. You have to cooperate with the Eoghans, though the NAC's also helping.

The dam broke on the next phase of the Battle of Hawk's Nest today; I should be able to wrap that up tonight. Computer problems have slowed me down dramatically, though.

I PMed Loomer about the details of his Outlander races. He said:

So far there's not too much written about the Angmarids even in my notes, except that there are actually five seperate species sharing a common ancestor, and some unifying features (warm blood, and Zoidberg tentacles, basically.)

So yeah, I am factually correct! :D

In the grim dark future of humanity, the Imperium of Man would designate some xenos as pets, others as food, and others, to be purged in a great fire of atomics.
