There'd have to be some backstory on why the rest of the world wouldn't turn Pendleton into a pariah due to that "peculiar institution." Major support from one of the unaligned powers? Just not worth the trouble?

Partly that it isn't worth it, it is much larger than North Korea and richer too. Yet it has the same "defence at all costs" mentality. In short attacking not to mention invading would be a very costly affair. Especially since Astaria doesn't go around causing wars and such.

However it is also somewhat isolated, not quite as bad as North Korea, more like Apartheid South Africa. Occasionally other countries support it, but only when it is expedient for them. It's hard for other countries to exercise meaningful financial pressure, since Astaria is very self sufficient.

In short most of the world simply ignores Astaria, aside from the odd embargo and export restrictions. Very similar to how a lot of small shithole states are ignored by modern society, despite having slavery.

Svalbardia, incidentally, should be shown as somewhere in the southern hemisphere, the cold parts but not to cold (like, Nova Scotia cold), somewhat close to Tonkin but not too close.

They were requested by Figolfin so that he can have the whole "Eastern Roman Empire vs. Muslims" dynamic going. I think it's only fair we demand he flesh out these nation states a little more, especially since Japanistan now borders them.

Also, I decided to go with the HEUGE world. A new version of the map will be coming shortly. Take note: The Old Continent will have a Mediterrenean climate even in the northernmost parts, since it's geographically closer to the equator than real Europe.

I'll be adding two main "filler" landmasses: a huge frozen piece of land like Greenland, and the Untamed Continent, which is alternatively extremely arid or full of dense jungles. Some random island chains will be sprinkled here and there, as well as island nations.

Given that I'll quite possibly get attached to Egypt I'd like to know too. I would also like to know where exactly I'll be attached to Egypt, e.g. if Astaria was once part of the Byzantine power plays.

Thanks a lot! This will make things much faster.

Tonkin is attached via Panama to the southern tip of America (North + Central), with a tiny canal separating them, comparatively--ref. the Mess map for an explanation. Svalbardia is to the southeast of Tonkin in the ocean, roughly, and should be slightly closer to Tonkin than to the Old Dominion / Shepistan, whose continent I believe should be in about the position of Africa? I.E., to the south of the Old Continent, which is the largest and occupies the Europe/Asia position, except pushed lower down (since the whole Old Continent is Mediterranean).

Frequesque whatever should be about where Australia is.

The ice filler continent, which is where we'll stick Fima if he joins (He'll be an Imperium) should occupy the whole arctic circle and extend down substantially from it so that a narrow sea separates it from America, but also to occupy geographically substantial portions of what would have been northern Asia/Europe, since all of the Old Continent occupies a band roughly from the Equator (mid Africa northward) to the Mediterranean climatic bands, and there should be a broader sea between the two there.

The "untamed continent" should be about the size of Australia + India and located in what would be the middle of the Pacific on the Equator to the northeast of Frequesque. Antarctica will be at the South Pole more or less exactly like on Earth.

Sound good, everyone? We'll fit the island chains into that where necessary.

Umm... maybe instead of going through the trouble of establishing an embassy, let's just assume that our nations already have embassies in place? I mean, our nations do have that colonial relationship thing. We also have embassies in San Dorado.

I'm not averse to sending Shroom the 777th on a trip to Sirnoth, but he's also scheduled for a trip to PeZookia for the FUN thing.Maybe Sovereign Setzer can also visit and join the FUN?
