I thought Freetown was the Diocese capitol...
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Treadstone is going to be as ruthless as necessary, but they'd prefer to target only UAR government personnel. Note that local police, firefighters, etc are considered legitimate but low priority targets. Treadstone's people take enough time to be professional on their hits; doing extensive surveillance, having multiple escape routes and so forth.
There! I changed my fucking post.

JULY 20TH 1969 - The day the entire world was looking up
It suddenly struck me that that tiny pea, pretty and blue, was the Earth. I put up my thumb and shut one eye, and my thumb blotted out the planet Earth. I didn't feel like a giant. I felt very, very small.

So now everybody in the MESS and FUN knows the IRT's involvement in the incident regarding the Shepnukistani aircraft. Namely that they didn't get permission from Alexander but decided to authorize the flight anyway.
And there's a VTC to determine the MESS response. What the FUN does is up to them. If you want to talk to us you're more than welcome.

Sending a "experimental" airplane flying over a problematic country, painte din military colors, then bitching about it being shot dows because it's "experimental"... that just reeks of entrapment. He's obviously trying to start something.

I'd think after he fired nuclear missiles at a naval convoy that had never once fired a shot at his country or anyone from it would make it obvious he's trying to start something with someone.Coyote wrote:Sending a "experimental" airplane flying over a problematic country, painte din military colors, then bitching about it being shot dows because it's "experimental"... that just reeks of entrapment. That part's not really in question. Doesn't give the IRT a free pass, though.

And of course we're going to have all the proof we'll need in the very near future that the IRT is the supplier of Alexander's AT-38s. Granted anyone who knows about them is going to pretty much know where they came from, but hard evidence never hurts.
The fact he slipped them in without telling anybody is gonna hurt him, especially now. What was before a minor PR incident at worst will, with the revelations concerning their role in the recon aircraft affair, simply point to a pattern of reckless and obviously dangerous behaivor on their behalf with regards to Terra Libertia. And that, in turn, would no doubt lead to hard questions about their role in other affairs...the Neverhood, for instance.
On their own, the AT-38 and bombing campaign things would have been minor. Unfortunately for them, they're now going to end up linked with and tainted by this whole shootdown fiasco.
And the IRT government can't blame it on the corporations this time. *shrug*

Nope. At the least you'll have to harden the lifestyles for all of your defense industry employees, which means no vacations, no trips to the restaurant, etc. But first you've got to figure it is a campaign of Assassination and not just random accidents or violence.MKSheppard wrote:So treadstone eh? Also if you do ever capture any of the men (they've been told to fight to the death rather than be captured), they have been extensively trained to say they work for terrorist organizations or other governments if tortured into some kind of confession. They've been given extensive background information and preperation to do so.
Also Coilerburg is responding exactly as I would have wanted. All his men are cowering in bunkers, unable to enjoy the better things in life.

Hum, that's too bad, considering that the MGM-191 program began quite a long time ago; and secondly, according to Comrade Herman, the recovery time from a loss of 3% of pre-war population (Shepnukistan lost 2% in the civil war); to prewar GDP is two years.CmdrWilkens wrote:Yes and nations which have undergone massive civil wars and a double replacement of the national government usually don't have money for nuclear ramjets but...
By contrast, I think I just took out 15-20% of the Diocese's population with that nuke; meaning it's going to take him about 20 years to rebuild to pre-attack levels.

You're not even going to do any reconstruction efforts, but to pocket the money and run? Congratulations. Then a 100 year recovery time to pre-war GDP is not unreasonable.Fingolfin_Noldor wrote:We aren't going to bother to rebuild.

The country's current population is too large to manage efficiently with the current state of the economy. There wasn't much going on at that destroyed city beyond agriculture anyhow. We are going to concentrate on the capital and an upcoming town in the east.MKSheppard wrote:You're not even going to do any reconstruction efforts, but to pocket the money and run? Congratulations. Also, Magdalia is too close to the border with Alexandria and there's not enough defensive depth for our liking.
