The sight is absolutely appalling, the water is littered with corpses - some intact, others... mutilated. Human wreckage floating in the waters between Libertia and Adrianopolis, only to be brought to shore by the currents. What happened is uncertain, and due to the circumstances, it may be impossible to conduct a thorough investigation.

Local Libertians are blaming it on Saddamistan, saying that warships and jets attacked refugee vessels heading for the safety of Adrianopolis. Others say that these are the bodies of boat people, desperate Libertians trying to flee their beleaguered country, following the refugee ships with their own rickety home-built boats. At the moment it appears as if the UKB navy is going to be operating off the coast of Zoria, although whether that's the end goal for defense purposes or a staging point is unknown. The Armadillo is tracking the South Sea's Fleet and has confirmed that that will be it's location for the forseeable future." Saldana shuffled more papers.

"Second, standard 'rules of the road' applies here. Per El Presidente, you are NOT to engage in anything that can be construed as 'offensive action'. A relatively unknown Libertopian warlord declared that the territorial waters of Terra Libertopia extended out to 100 nautical miles, and that any incursion into these waters would be met by the deaths of several hostages from various nations he claims to hold.

So far, we have only been able to confirm that Samantha Colbert, of the Austin Reporter-Herald, is being held by Arthur McKeldin's milita. McKeldin, in the video announcing this claim, appeared in an ornately styled naval uniform and addressed himself as an "Admiral in the Great Navy of the State of Libertopia".

The SSS Flattop sails for Qudlivun with its destroyer and submarine escorts.

The Mushroom Military of the Sovereignty of Shroomania has announced the deployment of a carrier battle group led by the SSS Flattop to the Qudlivun Free State. The Qudlivun Free State is a member nation of the FUN and, due to its close proximity to Saddamistan, has allowed the Shroomanian naval force to patrol and secure its territory.

The task force is under strict orders not to engage any target unless fired upon, and will maintain an observational role unless specifically ordered to do otherwise by the FUN or Qudlivun authorities.

The Flattop's destroyer escort will provide SAM and ABM coverage for Qudlivun, with their AEGIS systems, while the Flattop's own aircraft will secure the Free State's airspace.

To this end, we also wish to announce the creation of several new refugee camps. These are intended to provide cheap but comfortable housing for those who desire a new life in the Vedra Republic.

Adrianopolis: Refugee ships arrive at Minila and are greeted by the world-renowned Minila Bay sunset.

A constant stream of refugees, delivered by Wilkonian Container Ships and Fast Commerce Vessels, are arriving at the safe shores of Adrianopolis, where they will be temporarily housed in camps as they are sorted and as arrangements are made to send them home. Foreign nationals working in Terra Libertia composed the majority of the first-wave of refugees, though the flow of Libertians wishing to escape their homeland is steadily increasing - and new homes must be arranged for them as well.


The refugee camps of Brataan are housing a growing number of refugees of all races and nationalities.


Haunting eyes and tattered garment tell the plight of a 12-year-old girl who fled her native Libertia for a refugee camp in Adrianopolis.

Plans have been drafted to send some of these refugees to Vedra, but its sheer distance has prevented the plan from progressing. The fact that shipping refugees from Adrianopolis to another northern nation involves traveling through waters dangerously close to Saddamistan means that as of the moment, Adrianopolis will be the hub of Libertain evacuees. Nonetheless, regardless of traveling close to Saddamistan, many nations have sent aid and personnel to Adrianopolis - traveling over The Most Curious Kingdom of St. George in order to do so.

In the past the MESS has announced that a cordon would be established in the event of a foreign military intervention, although the LSR has been careful not to make any public claims to that effect.

In addition, the current hostage crisis demands that action of some sort be taken, but there is disagreement over what. The LSR will sit back and follow the MESS leadership on this one." - We have seen enough to understand that we need to interfere in Terra Libertia. The MESS has huge naval assets and it openly claimed that it would interfere to stop the bloodshed.

Bloodshed has occured. Colossal refugee waves are by now hitting other nations, not just the Libertian Southern territories - which are at the risk of another total collapse of authority, even if that authority is shaky.

Saddamistan has assaulted the nation and apparently is preparing an invasion; it has decimated the Sultanate's naval assets and wages war against some unknown Libertian warlord, hardly a major threat if he does not control a sizeable territory.

Time to act upon the promise, and quarantine the nation. If the Red Technocracy's Navy assistance will be required, we shall move in full strength to help!

The Emperor has ordered the IBNS Justinian to head for Red Technocracy and to act as the flagship of the taskforce. Civil defence drills run in all cities

Today, the government of the II Republic has performed a series of civil defence drills. Government buildings and schools were temporarily evacuated to test evacuation plans, special military units ran chemical attack drills. Hospitals and businesses were eduacted on proper procedure to take in case of nuclear, biological or chemical attacks and various other emergency services have tested their procedures, equipment and training.

Official speak of limited success ; John Wyshynsky, the Civil Defence Co-ordinator for Astoria, had the following to say to our reporter:

"Well, we knew from the start PeZookia's civil defence programs were not very effective ; This drill was supposed to locate the most glaring problems and help with fixing them. I am satisfied to say our emergency services performed really well, but we lack modern chemical detection and decontamination gear. I have already asked for proper budget to be assigned to improving the situation.

The main problem is with civilian education. Schools didn't do badly, but business owners have no idea what to do in case we are ever attacked with WMDs, or even in case of a simple air attack. Or if a natural disaster happens, for that matter."

Mr. Wyshynski assured the AEN that PeZookia will be adequately prepared for any possible attacks.

"We have to understand that drills almost never go perfectly - but we identified the most likely problems and will work on correcting them. This will pay off in the long run, as natural disasters are not unseen on Nova Terra."

The Shinra Republic Air Force has announced that they have deployed one of their wings of 45 F-22 fighters to the Grand Duchy of Baal. This leaves the Republic with one active duty F-22 wing and the Air National Guard F-22 wing to defend the Republic.

The Navy has announced that the Zeus CVBG has been deployed to a location off the south-east coast of the Republic. The Zeus has embarked a modified Carrier Air Wing One, as one of the F-14D squadrons was taken out of service and is in the process of upgrading to the F-14D+ standard. The Testing and Evaluation Squadron of F-14Es has been deployed with CVW 1 in their place. Additionally, one Hercules-class cruiser (Ticonderoga VLS CG equiv.) and two Argo-class destroyers (Burke Flight IIA DDG equiv.) have been deployed along the south-western coast to provide any SAM or ABM defense, in what the Defense Ministry calls "the very unlikely possibility of a Saddamistani attack."

Sources within the Army indicate that the all ADA Regiments have been put on alert. They refuse to comment on whether any of the newly delivered THAAD batteries (3 in total) from Tian Xia have been made operational and deployed.

In International News Task Force Zoro has been ordered home, they are on their way back to the UKB. According to the Naval Ministry the primary reason for patroling off Terra Libertia has been made null and void by the two hundred odd Mess ships currently patrolling off Terra Libertia. Said a military official, "What kind of fool Pirate tries his luck right outside the single biggest gathering of Naval might this world has yet seen?" There's not been one recored Pirate attack since Saddamstain started raiding the country pure and simple.

Victoria Carrier Strike Group sets sail, defense assests mobilized

The volatile situation around Saddamistan has resulted in Huang Di Beowulf ordering the surge of TXS Victoria and her escorts. Having recently completed a overhaul period, they would normally be staging up to deployment readiness.

As part of the Victoria's air wing, the newly built F-35Cs will be deployed for the first time on a Tian Xia Navy ship. The Victoria will be deployed to the Central Sea region in support of the SRS Zeus

All members of Air Defense Command had leaves and passes canceled. Indications are that two squadrons of F-22s are on quick reaction force status at any given time.
