You know, I think it's a bit of a stretch that a hastily trained Caliphate army could maintain discipline so well. I'd expect a not-insignificant number of incidents, or complete breakdown, based on the fact the officers are probably Jihadis themselves.

Didn't Saladin send a thousand special operators to train the mujahedeen army? Those troops could be functioning as an impromptu commissariat for the duration of the campaign, executing anyone found misbehaving. It probably wouldn't stop every incident from happening, but such draconian measures might be a good deterrent.

Such draconian measures are a must in this case, but depending on the size of the army, they will either stop most but not all incidents or utterly fail to enforce discipline once the fighting's over.

Well, we also backed it up with religious edicts just to make the issue extremely clear. But yeah, I would imagine that some breakdown would occur. Also, imams that followed the forces re-emphasized it repeatedly.

EDIT: I also edited the post to reflect the executions.

I wonder who's funding the Odinists. Come on, someone fund the Odinists! Seems like they're getting outclassed by the Jihadis - who're getting everything from everyone, not just those goddamn Byzantine schemes, but even from Saudi Shroomanians!

And Shroomanian Bars! Haha!

Hey, COYOTE, I think traveling by zeppelin and blimp would be a totally awesome way to go from Canissia to Shroomania, and back again. Screw the chunnel.

Oh, we'll keep the chunnel, since in-game it was already built... but I was going to post about that, too, for some added flavor. But the zepp and blimp air route would also be nice. Liesurely and scenic...

La Palma is supposed to be a blend of Miami and L.A. so that would work pretty well for MacArthur too I think... I don't know how nice it is for beach goers to sunbathe in the shadow of petrochemical industry, but we could conceivably reserve a few pristine beaches for the ravages of Shroomanian tourism ;).

I'd like some details on the C-46 first before I can consider buying it.
C-46 Common Support Aircraft (nickname not yet assigned)

Variants:
C-46A (Carrier Onboard Delivery): wider fuselage for cargo operations. Up to 39 passengers or 10,000 lbs cargo (carrier launch). 15,000 lbs land takeoff. $35
SC-46B (ASW/ASuW): 2 internal weapons bays. Can carry bombs, AGM-84, or torpedo. Sea search radar. 4 crew $70 million
EC-46C (AEW): carries large AESA radar in pod over fuselage. 6 crew $150 million (radar is expensive)
EC-46D (EW): standoff jamming equipment installed. 3 crew $70 million
EC-46E (SIGINT): carries signal intelligence equipment. 4 crew $70 million

No dedicated tanker variant (though the C-46A can be outfitted with a buddy tanking pod, and internal tank in the cargo bay). TXAF practice is to use A-7F/G outfitted with external tanks and buddy tank pod to perform the role.

I should've mentioned that I have enlarged and normal-sized COD version of the S3F as well and that the Super Viking family is an already proven design in good service with the IRT. The specialized designs can be put into either version (obviously there's more capability with the Heavy Viking versus the Super Viking airframes).

EDIT: For that mater, FASTA has plenty of excess funding. I need ideas on space-related science projects we could fund.

Dude Canissia is a member of the MESS..which means their space agency is a member agency of the MSA...who do you think is helping toss money at this expedition right now?

On the subject offhand I know the MSA (and daughter agencies) are currently engaged in basic research or applied physics research within the following fields:
Astrophysics
Molecular Biology
Geology and Geophysics
Urban Planning including
- Transit planning
- Project Management standards development
- Urban agriculture and hydroponics
- Energy management
Behavioral Psychology
Materials Science including:
- HSLW steel alloys
- graphite and related composite matterials
- piezoelectric materials
- solar cell development

Those are the things of the top of my head but I'm sure I'm forgetting something. The Canissian initial expedition is being funded out of his side of the house entirely (mostly because everyone else has been paying for booster development) but there is a shit-ton of money for the MSA to throw at everything even without any military considerations and involvement of defense budgets for things like the GPS constellation. If fact with a back of the envelope calculation the MSA including all component agencies should have somewhere in the neighborhood of $100Bn/year to operate on. That is with essentially twice the currnet US funding commitment to NASA (as a % of GDP) which is probably an underestimate considering relative national priorities.

My original funding timeline at the opening of the game was:
$15B per year in nuclear weapons R&D, projected increase to $20B per year within two years. Goal of achieving a test device within 24 months of project start (the beginning of the game) and then a fusion device within 36 months of the first fission test.

$5B per year in military and civilian space R&D, projected increase to $50B per year within five years.

$10B per year in military and civilian biodefense R&D, projected increases to at least $15B per year within two years.
Space funding is heavily biased towards R&D as and military applications. A lot of the funding is coming various elements of my military scaling down as it starts nuclearizing.
