Well, I don't remember the exact circumstances. For me, it was being tired of "We conquer barbarian stronghold XYZ", and the constant arms race with more and more ridiculous magical contraptions (LOL huge fleets of flying warships!)

Also, Zor annoyed me to no end with his "Industry is superior to anything magical" :P

Oh, and the economy system sucked ass, too ;)

PeZook, when will we continue PRIME NOIRing? This week and the next, I'll basically be doing nothing and sitting around in school - as opposed to sitting in craniectomies and tubal ligations and stuff.

Well, you didn't even remotely say anything which is the problem. Nobody said absolutely anything. God knows what was going on after a while.

Next week. Or today, if it's slow at work.

But it won't be...hasn't been for months.

If you have an idea for another part, just add it to the google doc

I doubt it. I think all of Frequese is taken, either by NPC's or players. He will have to go to Valeria. Vulpesia is a player nation, even though he is inactive, I would prefer we leave it alone. He's better of creating his own nation, somewhere in Valeria or on those little islands north of it.

This just makes me think we needed one or more additional continents where we can place all these new guys.

Is it possible he could just make another island or something? I mean its not as if has not been done before. Those islands might work though.

Instead of forcing an entirely new continent into this game I'd rather wait until we decide we're ready to try something new.

Agreed. There are still places for people to shoehorn prospective countries in Frequesue and the North Pacific Islands and possibly the vast Old Continent desert, unless Fingolfin has claimed all of it for himself.

There are four island chains in the North Pacific, three are taken (Misteria, Emmeria, and Zwinmar's new country). And we could, I suppose, add another (perhaps a large island with adjoining peripheral islands for some variety), that won't have nearly the same impact as throwing an entirely new continent in.

Ah.

It's a discussion of the viability of establishing a Frequesuan Technate, the goal of which would be to provide the citizens of its members with everything they need in a sustainable manner. Things like food, power, education, housing, and entertainment, all for free, as it were. Rather than being driven by the accumulation of personal wealth, the system would be driven by the desire to maintain the system that provides you with virtually anything you want in your off-hours. This would include the institution of whatever social programs would be required to lower the population in places where it is too great for this to be done reasonably and sharing of resources across borders.

Actually no, all of Frequesue is quite taken. You wouldn't be able to take any country on our continent without having to accept a really long history that'd diminish any playing experience you'd get out of it. He could take any random atoll anywhere though -- off Frequesue, or Velaria, or anywhere really. In fact I personally wouldn't be opposed to creating a whole new continent for us all to screw around with. That would at least allow us to screw around with some more NPCs rather than player-nations...

If anything, remaking those current Velarian nations into more of a Rangatara than a Somalia would probably be better than a continent showing up out of nowhere. We can always say that for some reason or another our interests were elsewhere so we didn't mess with them much.

I agree with that to some point: most nations in Velaria so far are little more than "here be moon-worshippers", so there's plenty room for development there, and it would be sort of odd to explain the sudden appearance of an entire continent.

On the other hand, making the world bigger would allow us to A) introduce a whole bunch of new NPCs that could potentially make the game a lot more interesting and B) save us from this silly "our world is wee small!" sillyness. I really don't care much for the consequences of dealing with a world of Mars' general gravity myself, and all this ocean gets quite boring real quick...

I second this idea. Velaria's nations are conceptually interesting, but are rather un-necessarily gimped into being effectively useless for any real purpose than sealclubbing. Making them various kinds of mostly-functional banana republic/postcolonial democracy/communist junta/whatever instead of largely nonfunctional nations could go a long way toward making Velaria a useful outlet for...stuffdoing. :D

I suppose if we were to do that we'd have to invoke Q upping our world. But instead of the Total Reset Button (I don't want to have to redevelop all our stuff, do you?) he would do a sort of shift into it, with our nations basically being as they are, but now it's a bigger world stage. Or something along those lines. Of course we might have to alter recent events a bit to account for it, and I suppose that could be a way to bury some of our OOC unpleasentness by having some kind of MESS/CATO tensions...just not to the utter depths we've managed to sink ourselves to.

Not that we probably won't find a way to get there again, but it's worth a shot. :D

If we did do something (SDN World 2.5 instead of 3.0) I think it would be interesting to have at least some (but not all) of the NPCs join a Japanistan-led alliance that is at least somewhat competitive with MESS and CATO. That way they can be dicks but nobody can claim an easy curb stomp on them, because they've got allies. Of course there should be enough unaligned NPCs out there so we can get into trouble without running into World War 3.

And of course we'd need some ground rules on NPCs. You can't just have them up and declare for an alliance because you want a power boost or any nonsense like that. Or easy land/resource/whatever grabs. But we obviously need real consensus if we're gonna shift into any SDN World 2.5 scenario.

EDIT: Which is not to say I'm not gonna go for upping the Velarian states instead. Just that if we decide to play in a bigger world, I'm shotgunning some ideas out there for it.
