If a mod would be so kind, perhaps we can lock and/or delete this thread, and create a new one outlining the various Alliances and Pacts that have formed?

Posted: 2008-04-06 05:15pm
by K. A. Pital
Yeah, a separate Pact thread could work

Won't the Reference Thread serve that purpose?

Oh, and just so I can say it, goddamn DarthShady! You've nearly incurred the wrath of the MESS!

A new thread would be better I think. That way, the Ref thread has the World map at the top, and the Alliance thread has the Alliances map at the top. Plus, we don't have to search and sort to see alliances as opposed to national information.

Such are the dangers of unilateral action against nations with standing alliances.

You know eventually someone will do something that could well bring us to the brink of World War, don't you? That will make international diplomacy interesting. And at the rate he's going, it looks like Shady might be the catalyst.

That was not my intention.

Technically he didn't know Mangka was part of the Mess when the act was made.

I'm pretty sure though we can avoid a world war... for the time being at least. ;)

That'd be for the best. At least until more nations are established. This would be a pretty short and violent world war as it stands now.

Not that it is going to happen.

Au contraire right now the war be long. ;) Nuclear weapons still are not developed (and I guess other nations would bomb the first one who starts a nuclear weapons programme). And powers are in balance ;)

The Mess is big, but OMSK and Shroomania combined could challenge it, just as FUNGAL could challenge it probably with LUN.

No one wants a bloody world war! The Paleopacifist Party of Shroomania would sooner smother the Prime Minister to death with a pillow before ever authorizing a war against superpowers!

I am posting a list of FUNGAL AXIS nations, for the sake of whatever.
The FUNGAL AXIS:

Shroomania (me)
Glorious People's Republican Democracy of Blasitification (Losonti Tokash)
Kingdom of Republicburgstatesville (NeoGoomba)
Kingdom of Triolia (Triol)
The Vortex Empire (The Vortex Empire)
Grand Duchy of Vanaheim (Vanas)
The Shadow Empire (Darth Shady)
Rail Republic of Caniba (Redleader34)
Republic of One (Zablorg)
New Gottland (Decue)
Republic of Vulpesia (WesFox13)
Sovereign Duchy of Baerne (Master_Baerne)
Duchy of Langley (Shinn Langley Soryu)

The privileges of joining the FUNGAL AXIS include the mutual social, economic, political and military support of each and every member with the purpose of prosperity for all.

Lonestar is making fucking nuclear weapons; that shit needs to be countered somehow. Also, the OMSK direly needs Shep active in it's ranks! :D He'd be our resident "bomb the shit out of them" speciallist.

Funny that the "Mangka Mambo" photo you used was from Taiwan's Legislative Yuan and the guy hitting the lady had ties to some gang.

Well, I think this thread is useful. We can, like, discuss stuff here without being In-Character. The Reference Thread... well, the Reference Thread is all for Serious Business information posts.

Then get Crossroads to rename this the OOC thread and have Stas start and "SDNet's World Alliances" thread or somesuch.

Eh, the World Alliances can be shoved into the Reference Thread which is stickied up there.

CROSSROADS!

No I actually think alliances warrant a thread. The map woul dbe easier to understand, and sovereign nations would not mix with blocs.

This should be something like OOC comments indeed.

P.S. So apparently a huge conference would be run in the main thread next day or two.. delegates can voice their opinion on arrival, assemblies run every day.

Also, there's the threat of terrorism.

I'm actually concerned that no rules pertaining assassinations are made. Are leaders considered unkillable until their nations are gone, lik in RTSgames? ;) Or could a decapitating strike kill them?

Concerned beacuse the new conference takes up many world leaders and it becomes a perfect terrorist act target for those wishing to stop any attempts to preserve world peace.

If done, such a strike could take out a large portion of the Mess and many other national leaders sans those which reject the conference.

so what are Leader Assassination rules? ;)

I would say we're unkillable, unless we choose to die, in which case we just "become" the new dictator. But I'm thinking the choice should lie in our hands: I for one would be seriously pissed to go to sleep one night and come back finding my fictional self got ganked while I was away.

Though there could be a terrorist act that wounds us, maybe.

Seriously though, that's the way it is in real life.

And I think if your nation is overrun or nuked, you can eventually be killed by the convention of the peole who did it do your nation, unless you quickly escape territory for asylum into some other nation.

Away killings are a no-no, but if a person releases too many details about his/her location and position inside the nation, or results are obtained via satelllite, I think he can be offed.

I agree to the succession rule, if people get killed, another controlled by you shall rise in it's place - but will take for necessary time for procedures to make succession (a few month/real days for elections or monarchic transfer of duties to son).

It may be the way it is in real life, but to be frank, given how quick off the draw some people *cough*DarthShady*cough* have been with their special forces stuff (and how it, naturally, succeeds), I'd think letting it happen willy nilly would be a Bad Thing and cause much aggravation.

I'm not sure honestly how to deal with it, though. I would propose that, for the moment, we just consider ourselves very highly protected.
