Re: Something big
Wow, great job, Fractalsponge1!
Are they keeping the names for the Assertor and Bellator (or they can't say)?

Turns out that a five way cross over between It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, the Ali G Show, Fargo, Idiocracy and Veep is a lot less funny when you're actually living in it.

Re: Something big
As far as I know, they kept the names for the Holocron at least. Leland Chee was very gracious in letting me use them. I don't think the ships will be discussed in the text, but might crop up in the captions for this shot and others. Really can't be more positive about the editorial process I've been a part of for this book, even if I don't always agree with some of the numbers .
Re: Something big
tell me more...what numbers?ships or weapons?even if I don't always agree with some of the numbers .

Re: Something big
Ah, so the superdreadnought is not in it then?
Sad, but I suppose the Assertor and Bellator make more than up for it.

Assertor and Bellator are both in yes, but what is this superdreadnought of which you speak?
Re: Something big
Sorry, for some reason I still think of the Assertor class as the Illuminator class. My mistake.

Sorry, what's the ship right near the back right hand side of the pic? Can't find it on your page.

Re: Something big
That's yet to be revealed in great detail, but suffice it to say it is of the same type as the ship used by a certain admiral named Giel
Re: Something big
Ahhh yes indeed it does look like that, good stuff.

Dang dude! This is insane! Can I ask for a picture of all of the laser cannons and turbolaser turrets on your ships? I really like those orb quad cannons!

Re: Something big
Apologies if this has been posted before but apparently someone is building a model of the Bellator.

I saw that over at Modelers, Miniatures, and Magic. Guy said it is his first scratch-build. he is asking 7K for it............
Since "The Book" is out I am looking forward to Ansel being able to post all his work he done for it, but alas, I fear Ansel is quite possibly swamped with RL at the moment.

Re: Something big
Apparently, the builder uses a 3D printer to build many of his smaller parts like turrents. Rather ingenious; just build templates from various things and then copy paste.

Re: Something big
That's actually in the book? Great work as always, its just hard to believe its all canon now...that is quite an accomplishment, even if stuff like the Bellator was technically already in DE, if badly drawn. The Assertor though...must have taken some work to get an SSD that makes an Executor look weak canon.

Re: Something big
I might do that, once I get home and access to the rest of the originals But, patience - it'll all be posted eventually.Fire Fly wrote:fractalsponge1, would you be able to post the Bellator performing a BDZ?

I have to find someone with a good printer to this picture justice...

Re: Something big
I couldn't make a guess at the size myself...but look at how small the ISD's are. Even the Assertors aren't near as big as this station. So if I had to make a guess I would say at least half the size of the DS1. But that would just be an uneducated guess.

Validusia Space Port facility was epic! fractal, you are talented beyond belief! Keep it going! I hope that they hire you for more work.
Validusia Station dimensions? I'd say 5k meters by 8k meters, plus or minus a thousand meters.

Re: Something big
Question about Naval Station Validusia: was it inspired by the Imperial dry dock that appeared in cutscenes from X-Wing? I certainly got that impression when staring at your artwork.
PS: I, for one, would really like to see how the Missle Boat turns out (thanks for sticking with the original sleek design BTW). That way, you will have completed models for all the playable craft from TIE Fighter.
