Re: Something big
I actually like the current configuration of the corner turrets. When I first saw them I felt they were going to be far too small and give the guns a "pasted on" feeling, since I'd assumed there'd be a gun on either side. With the sensors on one side, though, it's easier to imagine the guns taking up some of the sensors' allocation of internal space.

Re: Something big
Love the detail, the TIE Advance was always my favorite TIE ship. Looking forward to more of it.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

Re: Something big
Always good to see more support ships and small fighters an such. Really loved your redesign of the TIE-Defender Wonder if you have plans for other light craft like the gunboat? Maybe the Skipray gunboats or something?

Re: Something big
I love the angle on this shot. It just seems more... natural, I suppose, than viewing angles that are straight along some easily defined axis or another of the ship. It almost makes it seem like the shot captured the ship in motion (pulling up slightly to pass "over" the camera's POV).fractalsponge1 wrote:Some more additions - starting to itch for doing something else though:

Re: Something big
Totally agree with that, I really love that view shot and it does indeed look as if you captured the ship in motion. As if it is about to go WOOOSH!!! First mesh of the new year:
I decided to trash the old one and do it properly. I'll be adding detail where I consider the original to be a bit lacking.

Oh wow, the Lambda, one of my all time favourites, I can't wait to see you get some more detail on her there.
This odyssey, this, exodus. Do we journey toward the promised land, or into the valley of the kings? Three decades ago I envisioned a new future for our species, and now that we are on the brink of realizing my dream, I feel only solitude, and regret. Has my entire life's work been a fool's crusade? Have I led my people into this desert, only to die?

Re: Something big
Hey just a thought; I seem to recall that the forward blaster cannons are supposed to be on turrets. It looks great though.

Re: Something big
On the studio model and set models they are not - the back end looks to have a twin ball turret, but all the other guns are fixed (at least restricted to elevation/depression).

Re: Something big
Quick question: Is this huge Imperial starfleet all for a game, project, hobby, the lulz, or what? This is a massive undertaking for one person, especially with the very quick progress and massive buildup. Also, since I couldn't resist asking: what are they going to be shooting at?

Re: Something big
Well, it does make a very nice portfolio. ("My mesh was stolen by LucasArts to advertise their game" is a ringing endorsement, really. ) I still say these deserve a fanfilm appearance at the very least, though.

Haven't done any Rebel or New Republic ships - there are some good ones out there, but I find modeling is more fun than compositing/animating.

Re: Something big
Ever thought of doing lower poly versions of some of the big ships, like the bellator and the Assertor, for use in say, Empire at War and other games?

Re: Something big
Low poly really doesn't appeal to me I don't have a problem with fan projects that use the design and make their own low-poly versions, though.
Some work on the lambda - had to rescale the fuselage and re-proportion the wings to deal with additional differences between the studio model and the set design blueprints. About right now:
